About Us
The Goose Creek Rural Fire Department is a combination paid/volunteer fire department in Berkeley County, SC. Our primary coverage area is the unincorporated areas of Goose Creek. We provide full time coverage with both part-time and volunteer staff. We protect a district of over 600 residences, 5 shopping centers, 5 schools, 13 apartment complexes, 9 industrial facilities, and a population of over 18,000. We staff a fleet of 2 Engines, 1 Squad/Rescue, 1 Tower Ladder, 2 Staff Vehicles, and 3 Chief Officer vehicles housed in 2 stations. Our Headquarters Station is located at 907 Red Bank Rd and our Mount Holly Station located at 156 Old Mount Holly Rd.
Job Position Description
The position of Volunteer Medical Responder is an entry level position and applies to volunteer personnel who are new to the Department. All personnel will be required to complete six (6) months of probation regardless of their level of training. The Volunteer Medical Responder is primarily responsible for providing medical first response / Emergency Medical Service support, firefighter rehabilitation, and medical standbys for special events. This position is for new candidates without any training or those with an Emergency Medical Responder certification or Emergency Medical Technician license. Goose Creek Rural Fire Department currently responds at the Emergency Medical Responder level. In addition to emergency related incidents, the volunteer medical responder is responsible for promoting Public Education and general safety to the residents of the district.
