Professional Qualifications
Desirable candidates should have the following background or comparable experience:
● Minimum three years teaching the content area
● Advanced degree preferred
● High level of emotional intelligence
● Exceptional oral and written communication skills
● Experience integrating technology into the curriculum
● Ability to engage parents as partners in the student’s educational experience
● A history of continued growth and development as an educator
● A history of effective collaboration with colleagues
● Desire to interact with students outside of the classroom (e.g. coaching, clubs, etc.)
Job Responsibilities
· Teach Introductory, Honors and Advanced Placement Visual Art courses
· Discern appropriate topics and projects that support GCA’s mission
· Create lessons centered around a Christian worldview
· Devise lesson plans that follow GCA’s Curriculum and Instruction Standards and Course Maps
· Understands and can apply elements of design and modern principles of art
· Demonstrate and teach skills in drawing, painting, and ceramics
· Teach a well-rounded visual art curriculum
· Evaluate each student’s performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understandings
· Facilitate discussions for peer review and analysis of art projects
· Plan and present art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit students’ work for the school and the community
· Facilitate opportunities for students to enter art competitions outside of school
· Requisition supplies for projects
· Ability to hold students to a clearly articulated standard of performance
· Experiment with different teaching methods
· Differentiate instruction for students with learning challenges
· Maintain a positive classroom environment that promotes safe learning
· Utilize Google Classroom software for instruction/resources
· Update grades and lesson plans in FACTS/Renweb
· Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Administration
