CALIBRE Systems, Inc., an employee-owned management consulting and digital transformation company, is looking for a SOCIAL MEDIA COORDINATOR to support our client at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) in Bethesda, MD. NCBI is part of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) whose wide range of applications serve more users and more data than any other US Government Agency. NCBI provides free access to petabytes of biomedical and genomic information with scientists all over the world using NCBI products, including PubMed, ClinicalTrials.gov, GenBank, RefSeq, and ClinVar.
We are seeking a creative professional to formulate strategy, create content, and analyze the effectiveness of social media platforms. These platforms include Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and the NCBI Insights blog, and focus on marketing all NCBI products including GenBank, BLAST, and many other molecular biology and literature databases.
Principal responsibilities include the following:
- Develop and implement strategies for effectively using social media to advance NCBI’s mission, including new types of content on new and existing platforms
- Create and implement marketing campaigns in collaboration with marketing staff and product managers
- Coordinate the weekly publishing calendar for all social media content by working with social media writers, editors, marketing staff, and NCBI management
- Maintain and update policies that guide NCBI staff in participating in discussions on online forums, and oversee this activity on a regular basis
- Monitor the usage and success metrics for social media platforms and develop analytics reports for publicity campaigns in collaboration with analytics staff
- Maintain an awareness of US government policies on social media sites and ensure that NCBI social sites comply with these policies
Required Skills
Required Experience
- BS degree in biology or a related field is preferred
- 1-3 years of experience in creating professional content on blogs and social media platforms
- Experience in managing digital marketing campaigns
- Familiarity with community engagement on online forums
- Science writing, journalism, or other scientific communication
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with particular emphasis on clearly explaining complex topics
