The Senior Specialist, Benefits and Leave Management is responsible for the management and administration of the company’s benefit programs (health, retirement, LOA and wellness). This individual will be involved in all aspects of these programs, including plan design, program implementation and direct employee engagement. You will help us continue to secure and maintain a productive, diverse and engaged workforce comprised of the best talent available.
Reporting to the head of Total Rewards you will partner closely with HR, and business leaders to build a benefits program that is competitive, impactful, and effective. You will oversee daily benefits operations and act as the primary liaison between employees and one of their most important resources, their benefits.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as the subject matter expert for health and welfare plans including self-funded and fully insured plans.
- Responsible for managing health and welfare plans and vendors. Ensures adherence to contracts.
- May provide recommendations for plan or provision modification or expansion, or may identify a new benefit that would support the overall goals and objectives of the benefits function.
- Drive employee engagement initiatives in benefit programs through strategic initiatives around communication, education, and branding.
- Manage the implementation and administration of the company’s benefit programs, including open enrollment activities.
- Manages the Leave of Absence, ADA accommodation process, COBRA and ACA filing. Is the subject matter expert, providing training and guidance to team members.
- Coordinate activities within the HRIS that impact employee benefits, including carrier file changes, work-flow updates, new benefit plans and/or deductions.
- Assists with 401k plan administration, annual audits and testing.
- Communicate detailed plan provisions or changes to individuals or groups in a way that the content is understood by those impacted.
- Help employees and candidates navigate their benefits by creating easily understandable material for the internal intranet and perspective candidates.
- Manage the day-to-day administration of employee benefits plans, LOA programs and serve as the escalation point for complex inquiries.
- Understand and maintain current knowledge of each benefit plan and ensure compliance with Federal, State and local laws.
- Comfortable using ADP Work Force Now HRIS systems to perform benefits related tasks.
- Build a strong partnership with our benefits broker to ensure benefit programs are designed competitively and delivered efficiently and effectively.
- Partner with HR to advise and provide direction on employee benefits.
Performs other related essential duties as assigned or requested.
Required Skills
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Working knowledge of pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including the ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, PDL, PFML, workers' compensation, Medicare, COBRA, and Social Security and DOL requirements.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel and spreadsheets, including pivot tables, basic calculations, VLOOKUPs, and compiling, and analyzing multiple complex data sets.
- Strong presentation and communications skills.
- Thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Required Experience
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; CEBS or CBP preferred.
- 5+ years related experience in benefits, human resources, payroll, compensation,
- ADP WorkForce Now experience required.
Salary between $72,000-80,000 annually
