    Position Summary:

    May assist the Human Resources Director with the daily operation of the Human Resources department for the Grand Canyon Resort Corporation in accordance with Tribal, Federal and State Laws. Oversee the Hualapai Leadership Development Program and supervise and/or coordinate the daily activities of the Program Interns. Carry out various duties and responsibilities including but not limited to activities related to effective development, coordination and presentation of training and development programs for all employees. Assess corporation-wide developmental needs to drive training initiatives and identify and arrange suitable training solutions for employees. Assist with training less experienced Human Resources employees. Act as a Hualapai ambassador at all times.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    May assist the Human Resources Director with the daily operations of the Human Resources Office.

    Coordinate the program activities of the Hualapai Leadership Development Program; assess the effectiveness of the program relevant to employee accomplishments and performance, identify/incorporate best practices and lessons learned into program plans. Provide a broad range of consultative services to participating department managers and interns regarding policies and procedures. Facilitate communication among interns and managers.

    Supervise/coordinate the daily activities of the Program Interns.

    Receive, review and submit for approval and reimbursement all applications for Education Assistance.

    Schedule and conduct new employee and new manager orientations to foster a positive attitude towards the Corporation’s goals and employees understanding the benefits of working for GCRC.

    Confer with management, supervisors, employees and HR team members to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training.

    Conduct training sessions covering specified areas such as on-the-job training, refresher training, skills training, etc.

    Formulate teaching outlines and determine instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings and workshops.

    Develop effective training materials utilizing a variety of media such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials and reference works.

    Plan, organize, facilitate and order supplies for employee training events. Develop and monitor spending against the departmental budget.

    Conduct follow-up studies of all completed training to evaluate and measure results. Report on progress of employees. Modify programs as needed.

    Maintain trainee personnel records.

    Exemplify the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.

    Work effectively as a team member with other members of management and the human resources staff

    Ensure that all communications are shared with employees in a timely and accurate manner, as appropriate.

    Keep the Human Resources Director apprised of all issues and concerns, may fill in for the Human Resources Director in his/her absence.

    Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

    Knowledge and Abilities:

    1. Demonstrated ability to interact with a diverse group of employees and provide prompt, outstanding customer service.

    2. Ability to supervise others.

    3. Knowledge of applicable Tribal, Federal and State employment laws.

    4. Ability to obtain a Drug and Alcohol Certified Collector designation.

    5. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business documents, articles and government regulations. Ability to write reports, business communications and procedural manuals.

    6. Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner and handle escalated issues. Demonstrated ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.

    7. Demonstrated ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, customers and the general public.

    8. Computer literate with knowledge of database software, human resources systems and spreadsheet and word processing software.

    9. Demonstrated ability to work in and foster a team environment, multi-task efficiently and maintain positive working relationships. Excellent organizational skills.

    10. Demonstrated ability to resolve problems and issues in a multi-cultural environment.

    11. Demonstrated ability to keep company and employee information confidential.

    12. Knowledge of Grand Canyon West locations and operations, Hualapai River Running and Hualapai history and culture.

    Qualifications:

    1. Prior Human Resources or Staff Development experience required.

    2. High School Diploma or GED required; An Associate Degree or Bachelors’ Degree preferred. 3. Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills and strong interpersonal skills required.

    3. Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record required.

    4. Prior experience with Native Americans desired.

    5. Preference given to Hualapai Tribal members.

    Working Conditions:

    Corporation with multiple 24/7 operations. Must be able to work varying schedules with occasional weekends and holidays. Travel required to remote locations. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear; is frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Operates in a professional office environment. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners and fax machines.
