    Position Summary:

    Directs the maintenance operation at Grand Canyon West. Ensure that the buildings remain safe and structurally sound. Establish high quality standards for all maintenance services provided by maintenance operations for safety, health and customer service. Oversee vendors who come on-site to do specialized work, Evaluate potential new equipment or supplies for the buildings. Assist in the preparation of department budgets and monitor expenditure of funds in the budget; Provide strong technical guidance and leadership to staff; Assure skills training and certification of maintenance personnel.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    Responsible for all maintenance operations at Grand Canyon West including welding, plumbing, electrical services, maintaining and repairing diesel and gas powered generators, vehicle/machinery maintenance including engine, transmission, tires, brakes, front-end, electrical issues, etc.

    Ensure that the buildings remain safe and structurally sound.

    Establish high quality standards for all maintenance services provided by maintenance operations for safety, health and customer service.

    Handle emergency calls and situations and take action to remedy the situation.

    Assist in the preparation of the department budget and monitor expenditure of funds in the budget.

    Reviews job and repair orders to determine work priorities

    Evaluate potential new equipment or supplies for the buildings.

    Be responsible for inventory control of equipment and other maintenance supplies.

    Supervise routine maintenance and timely repairs and the performance of predictive maintenance functions including testing, inspection, and lubrication of moving equipment.

    Ensure proper maintenance and repair logs are maintained for equipment, machinery, vehicles and structures.

    Oversee vendors who come on-site to do specialized work.

    Perform regular and timely Performance Evaluation discussions and documentation with members of team and promote team environment while providing individual growth opportunities for Direct Reports. Hold supervisors accountable for completing Performance Evaluations and discussions.

    Ensure all communications are shared with employees in a timely and accurate manner, as appropriate.

    Answer visitors’ questions, gives directions, share information about GCW, the Hualapai history and culture, etc.

    Foster a team environment, multi-task effectively and maintain positive working relationships. Ensure all maintenance employees are trained properly.

    Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

    Knowledge and Abilities:

    Prior leadership experience in maintenance operations. Ability to collaborate well with management, peers, subordinates, guests, vendors and corporate partners.

    Proven ability to make financial, budgetary and business decisions related to maintenance operations.

    Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, train, develop and motive maintenance employees and supervisors to ensure service levels are maintained.

    Demonstrated experience leading and developing maintenance electrical, mechanical and instrumentation functions while maintaining safety and quality standards

    Strong technical problem solving skills to include troubleshooting activities relating to equipment failures, process and quality issues.

    Demonstrated ability to physically complete and have the knowledge to perform maintenance and repair duties such as welding, plumbing, electrical services, maintenance of structures, repairing generators and vehicle/machinery maintenance.

    Demonstrated ability to read and understand operating, maintenance and repair manuals for equipment, machinery and all maintenance services offered. Some of this information may be obtained through online methods.

    Demonstrated ability to monitor the condition and maintenance of equipment, machinery, vehicles and structures.

    Ability to routinely walk, stand, bend and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.

    Ability to work in outdoor environment for long periods of time.

    Demonstrated ability to foster a team environment, multi-task, work in a fast paced environment and maintain positive working relationships. Good client/customer service skills and well organized.

    Knowledge of Grand Canyon West locations, operations, Hualapai history and culture.

    Qualifications:

    Vocational School or an Associate Degree in a related field required; equivalent work experience accepted.

    Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a related field preferred. Boiler's license is a plus

    Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, instrumentation and process control principles.

    Prior supervisory, leadership experience in a maintenance operation that encompassed multiple sites

    Excellent communication skills including the ability to provide clear and concise details regarding building issues.

    Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record.

    Preference given to Hualapai Tribal members.

    Working Conditions:

    Position requires ability to work indoors as well as in outdoor environment for long periods of time, regardless of weather conditions. Must be able to routinely walk, stand, bend and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. as part of duties. Must be able to work varying schedules, weekends and holidays.
