    Position Summary:

    Under the supervision of the Transportation Manager, a successful applicant will maintain and service diesel transit vehicles. Applicants will diagnose and repair vehicles according to standards set by the Transportation Department. When necessary, applicants will be on call should they be required to perform their duties if there is a mechanical issue.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    Diagnose and detect mechanical faults in transit vehicles manually or by use of computer diagnostic programs.

    Inspect and examine vehicles and certify that vehicles are safe and fully operational.

    Complete annual inspections and produce the proper documentation when requested.

    Maintain and repair vehicles in a timely manner.

    Establish and document a routine of preventive maintenance procedures.

    Communicate with drivers and supervisory personnel.

    Ensure that we have enough transits to properly provide services to our guests, as part of the GCW (Grand Canyon West) Transit System, transporting passengers from one location to another, as directed by route, or supervisor.

    Other tasks and duties as deemed necessary by Transportation Management

    Knowledge and Abilities:

    Must be ASE certified or have equivalent certification and can provide documentation.

    Must possess and/or identify necessary tools and equipment needed to accomplish required tasks.

    Must have and maintain excellent attendance record

    Must have diagnostic and problem-solving skills and the ability to learn quickly

    Must be able to quickly identify mechanical issues and ability to anticipate such issues

    Must be dexterous and energetic, skilled at using complex hand tools

    Must have excellent communication skills

    Must maintain a positive and professional work environment

    Must be able to pass mandatory drug screen prior to employment

    Qualifications:

    Must possess or be able to acquire within 6 months, valid Arizona commercial drivers license (Class B) with passenger/air brake endorsement and be eligible to be placed on the Tribe’s insurance

    High school diploma or GED

    Position requires physical effort such as walking, lifting (up to 75 pounds), standing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, assisting customers, securing wheelchairs and other mobility devices

    Working Conditions:

    Requires that you may have to work outside in all working conditions.

    Must be able to work varying schedules, weekends, holidays.

    Position requires sitting for some length of time with constant head, arm, hand and foot movement
