    Job Description

    Duties of this position include scanning, organizing, and tracking medical records; creating and proofreading legal documents; accepting phone calls from attorneys, insurance companies, and injured workers; maintaining a schedule of physician appointments; billing insurance companies for services; communicating via email; and maintaining an organized log of completed tasks. This position cannot be performed remotely. At times, you might be asked to step in as an Evaluation Coordinator when the doctors' schedules require an extra assistant. In that capacity, your role would be welcoming 1-4 injured workers to a satellite office and overseeing their completion of the evaluation. Reliable transportation with willingness to drive to satellite offices on occasion is therefore required to apply for the position. We have satellite offices in the greater L.A. area, including Brea, Cerritos, Commerce, West Los Angeles, North Hollywood, Burbank, San Bernardino, Downtown L.A., Oxnard, Lancaster, and Valencia. In the event that you are asked to commute, we provide mileage and parking reimbursement to sites. Commuting is expected to be very rare and only under urgent circumstances. Important qualities of the employee include excellent computer skills, familiarity with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, comfort with using Google Drive, attention to detail and professionalism in speech and writing, maturity in manner of presentation, friendliness, timeliness, prompt responsiveness to emails and phone calls, organization/multi-tasking skills, and strict adherence to medical legal confidentiality/privacy guidelines. Basic Spanish language proficiency is a plus but not required. Familiarity with Workers' Compensation is preferred. Compensation is $25 per hour with potential for promotion commensurate with business growth and the employee's familiarity with the system. Supervision would be provided by the existing Operations Manager and the physician owners. First-round interviews will be by phone and second round will be online via video call. Requirements: High School diploma 2 years of work in office administration Fluent English proficiency in spoken and written word, including proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, and clear language Organization, responsibility and attention to detail Home internet access Reliable cell phone Comfort with using email as a primary source of communication; excellent email and text etiquette Comfort with using a scanner attached to a laptop computer (you will be trained on use, but general computer skills are important) Excellent people skills Enthusiasm for learning Professionalism in appearance, language and behavior Reliable transportation and willingness to commute to sites as described above as needed (expected to be minimal unless you request additional work opportunities) Preferred but not required: College coursework Spanish fluency Experience with patient interaction or other prior professional employment in a small business/medical/legal setting
