    Position Summary

    SumBridge is hiring a Grant Accountant to support our NFP client with a long-term project on their accounting team. The Temporary Grant Accountant will provide specialized accounting support for a nonprofit organization during a long-term internal project that is planned to last between 6-9+ months. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial tracking, compliance with grant requirements, and timely reporting for multiple funding sources. The Grant Accountant will work closely with finance staff and program managers to monitor grant budgets, maintain documentation, and support financial reporting obligations throughout the project lifecycle. This position offers competitive compensation, access to benefits including healthcare, PTO, and holiday pay. The role is a hybrid schedule with office located in Renton, WA.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Track and manage financial activity for multiple grants in accordance with grant agreements and nonprofit accounting standards.
    • Monitor grant budgets and ensure expenses are properly allocated and compliant with funding requirements.
    • Prepare grant financial reports for internal leadership and external funding agencies.
    • Assist with the setup and maintenance of grant accounts within the accounting system.
    • Reconcile grant-related accounts and maintain accurate supporting documentation.
    • Review expenditures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and private grant guidelines.
    • Collaborate with program managers to review spending, budget status, and allowable costs.
    • Assist with grant billing, invoicing, and reimbursement requests.
    • Support audit preparation by compiling grant documentation and responding to auditor requests.
    • Maintain organized records for grant files including agreements, budgets, amendments, and reports.
    • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes related to grant activity.
    • Identify and resolve discrepancies related to grant accounting.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
    • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within a nonprofit or grant-funded environment.
    • Knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and grant compliance requirements.
    • Experience with federal or state grant reporting is strongly preferred.
    • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., MIP, Sage Intacct, NetSuite, or similar).
    • Strong Excel skills and ability to analyze financial data.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently while supporting multiple stakeholders.

    Desired Skills

    • Familiarity with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) or other grant compliance frameworks.
    • Experience preparing grant budgets and financial reporting for funders.
    • Strong communication skills for working with program and finance teams.
