We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Contract Grant Writer to support our pursuit of funding opportunities from the Department of Defense (DoD) with a focus on training and education programs. This role is ideal for a seasoned grant professional who thrives in a flexible, independent environment and has a strong track record of winning federal awards—particularly within the DoD ecosystem.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Identify, research, and evaluate relevant grant opportunities, primarily from the DoD and other federal agencies.

    • Lead and manage the full lifecycle of the grant writing process, from initial concept development through submission.

    • Write compelling, clear, and technically sound proposals tailored to DoD RFPs and funding announcements.

    • Collaborate with subject matter experts, project managers, and finance teams to gather necessary information and ensure proposal alignment.

    • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of DoD funding priorities, guidelines, and submission platforms (e.g., SAM.gov, Grants.gov).

    • Prepare and submit Letters of Intent (LOIs), white papers, and pre-proposals when required.

    • Track submissions, maintain a calendar of deadlines, and coordinate post-submission follow-ups.

    • Contribute to the development of standard templates, boilerplate content, and proposal toolkits.

    Qualifications

    • Proven success in winning DoD or federal education/training grants.

    • 5+ years of professional grant writing experience, preferably with DoD agencies such as:

      • Defense Human Resources Activity (DHRA)

      • Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness

      • National Defense Education Program (NDEP)

      • STARBASE, Nunn-Perry, or related initiatives

    • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines without extensive oversight.

    • Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills.

    • Familiarity with federal funding systems (SAM.gov, Grants.gov, eBRAP, etc.).

    • Strong organizational and project management skills.

    • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., GPC) a plus.
