    Brief Description of Position

    Jefferson East, Inc. (JEI) seeks a unique, dynamic, detailed-oriented and organized individual to fill the important role of Grant Administrator. Reporting directly to the CFO, and liaising closely with the CEO and COO, this role will own the grant management and administration process and provide critical support to JEI’s leadership in grant administration.

Much of JEI’s work in the community is committed “to preserve and stabilize homeownership.” Through one-on-one counseling and group education to assist with securing home repair resources, foreclosure prevention and increasing financial literacy, JEI is committed to helping residents to remain in their homes so that they can benefit from Detroit's revitalization.

    Our Neighborhood Resource Hub serves as one of the City of Detroit’s Housing Resource Centers. Through our work, JEI has helped over 4000 residents with housing stabilization, foreclosure prevention, rental assistance, and home improvement resources. JEI’s ground breaking public safety work has led to a more than 46% reduction in crime rates over the past five years. Through a range of interventions – Neighborhood CompStat, secondary police patrols, neighborhood safety organizing, and domestic violence prevention/recovery services – JEI fosters effective collaboration between law enforcement and the Community to craft holistic solutions for public safety challenges.

    Position Duties & Responsibilities

    Given the increased complexity of JEI and its funding sources, strategic support is needed for grants administration and management.

    _ Grant Administration (10 to 15 hours per week)_

    -Create and maintain a calendar of requirements associated with all grants, such as reimbursement and reporting requirements and due dates, etc.

    -Maintain grantors’ online data collection systems.

    -Prepare and submit reimbursement packages (ex: CDBG,HUD-Section IV, etc.).

    -Prepare and submit invoices to funders, sponsors and/or program subscribers as applicable.

    -Prepare interim and final grant reports as required.

    -Maintain and Insure JEI files are complete and accurate with submissions, applications, budgets, final approvals and awards, reporting, etc.

    -Provide reports to program managers as necessary (grant funds expended, reimbursements due, etc.).

    -Assist fund development team in compiling documents for grant request submissions.

    -Manage grant compliance reviews and audits (CDBG, HUD, etc., not financial or single audits).

    -Track outputs/outcomes for all JEI’s major grants.

    _ ****Accounting Support (2 to 4 hours per week)_

    -Process accounts payable bills - making sure program expenses are correctly coded back to various grants.

    -Assist CFO with month-end close.

    -Ad-hoc reporting around grants as requested.

    ** Board Governance** (2 to 4 hours per month w/ training to be provided)

    -Record minutes and maintain proper documentation of board meetings.

    -Prepare and circulate board packets to the executive committee and general board.

    Education & Experience

    -B.A. in Business Administration, Accounting, or Liberal Arts.

    -2+ years of non-profit grant administration experience, or equivalent experience to be successful in this role.

    -Familiarity with CDBG, HUD and City of Detroit reporting requirements preferred.

    -Software Experience: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint),G-Suite for Nonprofits, Zoom/Google Meet/Webex, and Sage Intacct Accounting Software (preferred).

    Compensation& Benefits:

    This is a part-time position, expected to average approximately 15-20 hours per week, as such, benefits are not available for this position. JEI offers a flexible work schedule and an hourly rate of $25 to $30, dependent on experience and qualifications.
