    FLSA: Non-Exempt 10–15 hours a week

    Hourly $30 - $35/hr based on Experience

    Location: Columbus (in person at Arena district office)

    Duration: 2-month initial contract with possibility for permanent employment

    Overview

    As the Graphic Designer at Experience Columbus and the Greater Columbus Sports Commission, you will work closely with the Senior Creative Services Services on a variety of design projects to support the marketing efforts targeting leisure tourism, convention groups and sporting events in Columbus. We're looking for someone who not only brings fresh, creative ideas to the conversation, but is willing and eager to support in the production of a variety of creative needs with a high attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.     Responsibilities will include:

    • Support and assist the Senior Creative Services Manager with the execution and production of design requests that adhere to brand standards
    • Leverage brand templates to execute digital, print and PowerPoint needs
    • Utilize Canva to support design efforts for the social media team
    • Track and adhere to deadlines by effectively managing time and priorities with clear and proactive communication
    • Utilize and communicate in Wrike, our project management tool, for ongoing design projects
    • Assist the marketing team with media library maintenance and asset sourcing
    • Bring new ideas and inspiration to the marketing team
    • Attend Experience Columbus and Sports Commission functions
    • Stay current on industry trends, community developments and use of graphic design as it relates to events, tourism, hospitality and the community.
    • Demonstrate a commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion by ensuring the inclusivity and accessibility of events and services.

    Knowledge, skills, experience, competencies certifications etc.:

    • Experienced in the following areas below (either through education, internship, work experience or a combination of both):

      • Design-related process and concepts equivalent to Associates or B.F.A. in Graphic Design or Visual Communications plus 2 years in a professional role as a Graphic Designer
      • Execution and fulfillment of design projects using the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat PDF, Creative Cloud Libraries)
      • Key design principles and excellent execution skills with layout, typography, alignment and color
      • Client Related work
    • Goal oriented individual with the ability to take initiative, work independently and be held accountable

    • Collaborative in nature, focused on strong relationships built on respect, trust and sharing of knowledge

    • Very comfortable receiving/giving productive, constructive feedback in a supportive environment; ability to take direction from design leadership and apply feedback

    • An excellent communicator (written and verbally); ability to present design concepts and executions

    • Ability to collaborate actively as part of a multidisciplinary team, including involvement in project-related or routine status meetings, and to adapt and learn quickly

    • Ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects within a fast-paced work environment; successfully meet deadlines and active communication with project managers about those deadlines

    • Willingness to tackle both conceptual projects and production design tasks

    • High attention to detail and concern for accuracy

    • Highly organized

    • Proficient using of Microsoft Office products; (experience leveraging these tools for design work is a plus)

    • Passionate about the product (Columbus) and motivated to exceed expectations

    • Experience with the printing process and illustration skills are a plus

    • Propensity for animation, motion graphics, photography and video work a plus

    • Marketing knowledge is a plus

    • Submission of a digital portfolio/PDF with examples of work is required
