  • Responsibilities

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The DC Class B Driver operates company owned or leased vehicles to safely transport material between company warehouses/branches and/or customers within the LA, Orange County and Riverside areas. Additional duties will include warehouse organization during down time.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Include the following; other duties may be assigned)

    • Provides prompt, courteous and complete service to customers while loading, unloading and/or assisting loading and unloading the truck
    • Operates vehicles in accordance with OneSource safety policies, OSHA and DOT requirements as well as all local, state and federal laws
    • Perform pre and post trip inspections of assigned vehicle and documents checks utilizing the OneSource standard vehicle inspection reports
    • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations or damage before and after route
    • Maintain an eligible driving record
    • Demonstrated ability to read maps, follow directions and use GPS systems
    • Ability to work in all weather conditions and adhere to all safety practices and company policies

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • Current Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
    • Prior experience making deliveries in Southern California which includes Los Angeles, Orange, Venture, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties
    • Utility, Electrical and/or distribution experience preferred but not required
    • High School diploma or G.E.D.
    • 6 months of related experience and/or training
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Required valid driver’s license and clean driving record as determined by Company
    • Forklift experience is a plus

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must possess a valid California Class B driver’s license
    • Must have a valid DOT medical card
    • Successfully complete a pre-employment DOT drug scree, physical and background check which will include previous employment check, criminal history and motor vehicle review.
    • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
    • Must demonstrate good time management skills
    • Must possess strong planning, organizational and execution skills
    • Must have the ability to set goals and meet deadlines
    • Must possess excellent customer service skills
    • Must demonstrate ownership of assigned responsibilities and ability to get the job done correctly and in a timely manner
    • Must possess a proactive and positive team approach to problem resolution
    • Must have the ability to establish strong working relationships with co-workers and management
    • Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • TRAVEL:

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance. The employee will frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds and may be required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.

    EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

    • 18 years or older
    • 3+ years of machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment
    • High degree of mechanical ability. Must have skills to perform the basic technical tasks
    • Well-developed communications and interpersonal skills
    • Basic computer literacy and keyboarding skills
    • Ability to work in a high paced and multi-taking environment
    • Maintains positive team environment
    • Demonstrated organizational skills and highly detail oriented
    • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
    • Ability to follow verbal and written instruction

     

    EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

    • High School Diploma or GED required

     

    SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:

    • 12-hour shifts with rotating weekends off
    • Must be willing and able to work overtime

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: A Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the position, with or without accommodation.  This includes: Standing and/or walking for extended periods of time, up to 12-hours; Lifting up to 50 lbs. to a height of 3 feet; Pushing blank carts weighing up to 1,500 lbs. (2-person job); Visual acuity and depth perception; Working in various temperatures & humidity levels.
