    POSITION SUMMARY

     

    The Software Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for planning, design, development and execution of test processes, test plans and test scripts. This person will design and implement automated and manual test suites for our products. This includes client-server applications, web applications, relational databases, software utilities, customer specific applications, reports and user documentation. This role requires proficiency and strong hands-on experience in developing both manual and automated test scripts.

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    • Plans, creates, maintains and executes detailed test plans, and scripts for verification of, but not limited to, software functionality, security, load, and performance.
    • Generates and maintains test data and the test environment.
    • Reads, understands and correctly interprets business and technical requirements. Develops scripts to test these requirements. Suggests changes to ensure accuracy of documented requirements. Participates in reviews of technical documentation, such as user manuals and suggests improvements and tests incorporated procedures.
    • Develops a thorough understanding of the functionality of client-server, web or desktop applications.
    • Participates in defining automation strategy and applying appropriate automation technologies to meet the short and long-term quality goals. Responsible for developing and maintaining test automation frameworks, solutions and automated test scripts using.
    • Responsible for following established test methodologies and processes. Evaluates test processes and procedures and makes recommendations for improvement.
    • Works closely, collaboratively and communicates effectively with project stakeholders, engineers, and managers. Takes initiative and ownership, performs as a mentor and helps build a positive, productive work team.
    • Performs investigative testing on customer and other issues as required.
    • Documents test processes, test plans, test cases, configurations and results.
    • Maintains and administers test management or configuration management software.
    • Helps develop testing strategies, project plans and risk mitigation strategies
    • Note: In addition to the Essential Functions, also performs similar work-related duties as assigned

    Required Skills

    • MUST BE A US CITIZEN (DUAL CITIZENSHIP NOT ALLOWED PER GOVERNMENT CONTRACT)
    • MUST BE LOCAL TO THE BILLERICA MA OFFICE (REMOTE IS NOT AN OPTION)
    • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience in a related discipline
    • A minimum of 3 years of software application testing experience, with at least 1 year in a responsible hands-on Quality Assurance Engineer role and at least two years of demonstrable test automation and/or API testing experience.
    • Experience with automation and a proven record of accomplishment for planning, creating, maintaining and executing detailed test plans, and scripts for verification of software functionality, security, load, and performance.
    • 3 years creating automation for of client-server, web or desktop applications.
    • Responsible for following established test methodologies and processes. Evaluates test processes and procedures and makes recommendations for improvement.
    • Successful understands and correctly interprets business and technical requirements.
    • 2 years developing automation of the functionality of client-server, web or desktop applications.
    • Experience in defining automation strategy and applying appropriate automation technologies to meet the short and longterm quality goals.
    • Ability to work closely, collaboratively with cross functional teams and stakeholders with an emphasis on good communication
    • Must demonstrate a proficient knowledge of:
      • Testing methodology and SDLC
      • Database concepts with experience on a major database server such as SQL and Oracle Servers and Redhat Linux
      • Basic scripting/programming concepts such as Python, XLM, C/C++
      • Internet technologies, including web architecture, web server configuration, HTML, XML, SOAP and other specific protocols
    • Must have experience with both manual and automated testing tools and with writing test plans/procedures and SW-CMM
    • Must have experience with Java and must be able to diagnose errors in Java-based programs and query database tables is necessary
    • Must have experience with configuring and troubleshooting Unix, PC and network based hardware
    • Must be proficient with MS Office programs and experience installing configuring, and administering Windows operating systems and workstations to servers
    • Must have good organizational and time-management skills in order to prioritize workload and handle multiple projects concurrently
    • Must have good problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills; must be able to confront and resolve conflict constructively
    • Must demonstrate good initiative and sound judgment
    • Must have excellent verbal and written communication as well interpersonal skills to be able to interact effectively and precisely with company staff and clients
    • Must be able to work in a self-directed and efficient manner
    • Experience with Biometric technology a plus
