In addition to the usual roles and responsibilities of a chaplain, the Supervisor of Spiritual Care Services is responsible for providing day to day oversight of the Spiritual Care staff and program at a specific site within the PIH Health system. Assists the Director of Spiritual Care Services in establishing budget and staffing priorities to address the hospital’s needs for adequate spiritual care coverage. In collaboration with designated leader of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) for the site, organizes and mobilizes the spiritual care staff and volunteers in developing, implementing, and evaluating programs and resources to support the spiritual/religious needs of patients, families and staff. Provides resources which assist PIH Health staff at all levels to create and maintain an atmosphere in which healing and wholeness may be fully realized. Oversees annual performance evaluations and improvement plans, education, and training for spiritual care staff and volunteers. Provides education and resources which support PIH Health policies and practices of patient care that respect a patient’s spiritual/cultural traditions and are consistent with the highest standards of medical ethics. Collaborates with the other leaders of department in support of departmental goals and missional objectives throughout the PIH Health system.
