    The PATIENT ACCOUNTING DIRECTOR under the supervision of the Vice President, Revenue Cycle and Managed Care is a management position responsible for billing through final resolution of patient accounts to maximize collectible revenue and minimize outstanding discharged receivables.  Provides daily direction to management of billing, data control, customer service, collection and follow-up activities; promotes billing compliance, ensures appropriate identification and processing of account write-offs, appropriate management of patient information, etc.   Provides timely feedback and education to appropriate departments, managers and staff. Works closely with the Director Patient Registration to ensure that billable information is provided to Patient Accounting staff.  Applies Lean Methodology to the revenue cycle.  

    Required Skills

    • Must have people and results oriented professional management skills.
    • Must be able to create a culture of respect.
    • Demonstrated ability to utilize various PC and accounts receivable software programs, specifically MS4, Word, and Excel. Proficiency with PowerPoint, within 6 months of hire. Access experience preferred.
    • Must be able to use a 10 key adding machine.
    • Good mathematical skills.
    • Able to perform multiple tasks.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, required.
    • Must be able to demonstrate sound decision making and prioritization skills.

    Required Experience

    • High school graduate. BA in Business Administration, an advantage. 
    • Minimum of five years experience in Physician  patient accounting management experience.
    • Requires extensive knowledge of Medicare, Medi-Cal, third party billing, workers’ compensation, effective follow-up procedures, Fair Debt Collection Act, capitation and PPO contracts.
    • Demonstrates a strong commitment to compliance principles.
