    The Patient Access Representative is responsible for the timely and accurate compilation of patient socio-demographic and financial/insurance data either prior to or at time of service.  In this role you will facilitate patient access into the health system and serve as an advocate of patients’ rights for health care issues and insurance coverage. The Patient Access Representative assists in the flow of data between physicians, physician office staff, nursing floors, ancillary departments, emergency department, patient business services, insurance companies and patients while ensuring patient confidentiality is not breached. This role also, assists patients with verification and pre-certification of insurances and acts a financial advocate for self-pay patients.

     

    **PER DIEM, 11:00PM-7:00AM

    Required Skills Required Experience

    Two years of college or 2 years prior equivalent experience in a health care setting. 

    Computer knowledge and minimum typing requirements of 50 wpm. 

    Knowledge of health insurance terminology, policies and eligibility are required.

    Knowledge of clinical terms helpful. 

    Must have excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills and ability to work with patients, their family and the public.

    Knowledge of Meditech system preferred.

  • Qualifications
    1. Possesses critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
    2. Possesses effective oral and written communication skills.
    3. Possesses effective interpersonal relationship skills.
    4. Ability to utilize computers for documentation purposes. 
    5. Technically competent in tasks within the scope of practice of a Registered Nurse.
    6. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
    7. Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
