    Report to the SPD Manager of Central Sterile Processing and under the supervision of the SPD Coordinator, the Central sterile technician ll is responsible for the sterile processing of instruments and equipment, maintaining appropriate levels in all user departments. Performs all activities in decontaminating, cleaning, processing and assembling, storing and distributing sterile trays and supplies utilized for patient care areas. Responsible for maintaining instruments, and loaner equipment, informing all appropriate staff members if items requires repair / replacement. Able to prioritize items to be sterilized by OR schedule. Ensures all OR staff adheres to workflow decontamination policies for delivery of soiled items. Responsible for assisting the OR team with quick turnovers and flash sterilization in the OR. Able to assist the OR team in obtaining instruments deemed necessary before and during the OR procedure. Participates in orientation and education of operating room equipment and supplies. Complete knowledge in operation of all sterile processing equipment . Completes OR and SPD record keeping / Monitoring in compliance with all hospital policy & procedure, and all regulatory regulations. Performs all other duties as assigned.

    Required Experience

    1. LA City fire card within 6 months of employment
    2. High School Diploma or GED
    3. Must be a graduate of a state approved, accredited school of Surgical Technology or Central Service, preferred
    4. Certified status from IAHCSMM (CRCST / CIS/ CBSPD) or NBSTSA (CST) preferred. Condition upon Hire Obtain IAHCSMM /CBSPD certification within 6 months of hire and maintain thru-out employment.
    5. Preferred 5 year experience minimum in an OR/SPD environment in a acute hospital setting. Advanced experience in basic principles of sterilization and aseptic technique. Advanced experience in surgical instrumentation and sterilization equipment.
