    Perkins Special Population Coordinator: This position is grant-funded. The Perkins Special Population Coordinator is responsible for providing comprehensive support to students from special populations as defined by the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act. This role involves guiding these students through their Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses, helping them connect to necessary campus and community resources, and supporting them in overcoming obstacles to achieve their educational and career goals.

    The salary range for this position is $44,673.56 to $67,010.34 annually.

    Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

    25% Serve as the primary point of contact for students from special populations, offering individualized support and guidance throughout their CTE programs including childcare and transportation assistance.

    25% Develop and implement personalized plans to help students connect, commit, and complete their CTE courses.

    20% Identify and connect students to appropriate campus and community resources, including academic support services, financial aid, counseling, and other relevant programs.

    10% Advocate for the needs and interests of special population students within the institution and the broader community.

    10% In partnership with other GC team members, develop and implement programs and initiatives aimed at improving the educational outcomes of special population students.

    5% Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to the Perkins Act and special population students that includes accurate records and preparation of reports on Perkins Special Population students’ progress and outcomes in closing the performance gaps.5% Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    Experience: Two years to five years of similar or related experience. Preferably experience working with special populations in an educational or social services setting. Experience in career and technical education or workforce development is a plus.

    Education: Bachelor's degree.

    Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.

    Other Skills: Strong understanding of the challenges faced by special populations, including those outlined in the Perkins Act. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Ability to develop and implement programs and services that support student success. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.

    Physical Requirements: The work is typically sedentary. There may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, or driving an automobile.

    Work Environment: An office environment.
