    Job Description

    Summary:

    Camp Curiosity offers students, from kindergarten through 6th grade, hands-on fun, one-of-a-kind experiences, STEM fundamentals, and unforgettable memories. We believe that informal STEM education will cultivate creative, innovative, and critical thinkers for the 21st century.

    The Camp Curiosity Operations Assist supports the School and Camp Supervisor for all program, staff, and camper needs. The Camp Operations Assist should be passionate about providing an engaging STEM experience for campers kindergarten through 6th grade and have a proactive and problem-solving mindset.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    The Ops Assist and School and Camp Supervisor will coordinate completing the following responsibilities:

    • Working understanding of curriculum for and logistics for Camp Curiosity
    • Organizing and following-up with required forms for campers
    • Setting up and cleaning up instructional areas
    • Working with the supply team to ensure supplies are complete and ready
    • Lead camper check in/check out
    • Answering radio calls from staff and assisting instructors as needed
    • Running supplies as needed
    • Handing out lunches and supervising campers during lunch and recess
    • Establishing high expectations for performance and engagement amongst all camp staff
    • Assist the School and Camp Supervisor with high-level behavior situations and health incidents
    • Facilitating multi-grade STEM activities for campers in K-6th grade as needed
    • Creating fun, interactive, and effective STEM learning environments for all campers
    • Reporting to appropriate STEM Learning staff about any issues that arise with camp staff or campers
    • Conducting him/herself with high levels of professionalism and appropriateness at all times
    • Create and maintain a positive culture amongst Camp Curiosity staff

    Work Environment/Physical Demands:

    Please note that this position requires working outdoors for prolonged periods in varied weather conditions, frequently climbing narrow stairwells and occasionally lifting heavy objects such as supply bins and demonstration props. It may also include working with chemicals and gases including, but not limited to, liquid nitrogen, dry ice, nitric acid, hydrogen, and oxygen. Training will be provided.

    Additional Information

    • Rate - $20/hour
    • Incentive Program:
      • Employees who work 5 weeks of the summer will be eligible for a $100 bonus.
      • Employees who work 10 weeks of the summer will be eligible for a $200 bonus.

    Expected Hours of Work:
    Camp Curiosity in-house summer camps are week-long (Monday-Friday) day camps and are offered downtown at GLSC 6/5/23-8/18/23.

    Candidates must be available between 9 am-5:30 pm for majority of the summer, beginning on May 22nd.
