    Job Description

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Under the immediate supervision of the Transit Supervisors, the Transit Ambassador will be assigned primarily to Transit Centers. Transit Ambassadors will be responsible for assisting customers with information regarding bus routes, including trip planning as well as arrival and departure times. Maintains visibility at Transit Centers and advises Dispatch of any security related issues.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Open and close Transit Center facilities on a daily basis to ensure access for customers during operating hours.
    • Assist customers with the sales of monthly, weekly, and daily passes in the sales and ticket booth.
    • Assist customers and operator workforce with all service-related issues.
    • Ensure adequate supply of public timetables at Transit Centers and other designated locations. Also checks electronic schedule signage to ensure they are fully functional and accurate.
    • Maintain a high degree of visibility with emphasis on deterring disruptive behavior and reporting disruptive behavior to Dispatch.
    • Monitor closed-circuit security cameras, when necessary, to ensure a safe environment for customers.
    • Ensure customer compliance with Facilities Code of Conduct and ensure compliance in and around Transit Centers.
    • Support Operators with implementation of on-board rules for bus riding.
    • Ensure adequate supply of Transit Services Report forms for Bus Operators.
    • Inspect Transit Centers to ensure facilities are clean and free of mechanical defects.
    • Coordinate lost items for Lost & Found.
    • Pick up and distribute mail throughout the facilities.
    • Supports the mission and goals of the RTA.

    OTHER FUNCTIONS:

    • Requires punctuality and regular attendance.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    High School Diploma or GED preferred. Experience in customer service desirable. Energetic and outgoing personality with emphasis on customer service. Ability to independently travel to and from Transit Centers in a timely manner to report to duty. Computer skills and knowledge of service area helpful. Requires physical effort on a regular basis and prolonged sitting and walking. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ohio Driver’s License required with good driving record.
