Our Greenery Operations Manager is responsible for managing all facets of a retail greenery, including overseeing plant inventory, supervising staff, providing excellent customer service, driving sales, and executing effective merchandising strategies. They ensure the health and quality of the nursery while adhering to Earthtones Companies’ standards and operational guidelines. You will lead a team of horticultural experts in delivering a positive experience to our retail and wholesale customers.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Plant Management:
Oversee the procurement, receiving, and quality control of plant inventory, ensuring proper stock levels and rotation.
Monitor plant health and condition, identifying and addressing any pest or disease issues.
Manage plant propagation and growing areas to maintain quality and optimize production.
Staff Leadership:
Recruit, hire, and train nursery staff, including sales associates and field laborers
Delegate tasks, provide ongoing coaching and development, and evaluate staff performance.
Foster a positive and customer-centric team environment.
Sales and Customer Service:
Drive sales by actively engaging customers, providing expert plant advice, and promoting special promotions and events.
Ensure exceptional customer service standards are met throughout the sales process.
Resolve customer concerns and address complaints effectively.
Merchandising and Visual Display:
Design and implement visually appealing plant displays to enhance customer experience and sales.
Maintain a clean and organized nursery environment, including signage and labeling.
Update product offerings based on seasonal trends and customer demand.
Financial Management:
Monitor sales performance, budget adherence, and cost controls.
Analyze sales data to identify opportunities for improvement and adjust strategies accordingly.
Manage inventory levels to minimize shrinkage and optimize profitability.
Operational Management:
Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety regulations, and local ordinances.
Oversee maintenance and upkeep of nursery facilities, equipment, and grounds.
Collaborate with other departments within Earthtones to achieve overall business goals.
Oversee internal residential installation division by monitoring sales performance, budget adherence, and cost controls.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge of horticulture, plant identification, plant care, and seasonal needs.
Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
Excellent customer service skills and the ability to build rapport with customers
Retail sales experience, preferably in the nursery or garden center industry.
Proficiency in inventory management and basic computer skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
