We are seeking a Greenskeeper I, the Greenskeeper I serves as the second-in-command for golf course grounds operations, specializing in the care and maintenance of greens, tees, and high priority playing surfaces. This role requires advanced turf management skills and the ability to lead the grounds crew in the supervisor's absence.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Serve as crew leader and run daily operations when Grounds Manager/Superintendent is not present
Provide guidance and direction to Groundskeeper I and II positions
Coordinate work assignments and ensure quality standards are maintained
Communicate e4ectively with management regarding course conditions and crew needs
Perform daily greens maintenance including mowing, rolling, blowing, and cup cutting
Monitor greens health and report any concerns to supervisor
Maintain consistent cutting heights and playing surfaces
Execute detailed cleanup and presentation standards
Greens care and maintenance
Assist in scheduling aeration and conducting aeration procedures
Irrigation and water management
Chemical application and records
Any other task or duty deemed necessary by Management or Owner
Job Qualifications: Required Skills & Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 2-3 years of golf course maintenance experience
Experience with greens care and cultural practices
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Ability to operate specialized turf equipment safely
Basic knowledge of irrigation systems and repairs
Strong leadership and communication skills
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
Pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain
Experience in crew supervision
Knowledge of turf diseases and treatment methods
Familiarity with fertilizer and chemical application procedures
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Capability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
Ability to operate machinery for extended periods
Manual dexterity for precision work on greens
Typical Work Schedule Includes:
Full-time position with early morning start times
Weekend and holiday availability required
Flexible schedule based on course needs and weather conditions
