COST ESTIMATOR
DESCRIPTION OF JOB: COST ESTIMATOR – IRON, SMF & SPECIAL COMPONENTS
PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT: Monterrey, Mexico
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analysis and evaluation of cost structures (material costs, manufacturing process, overhead) of purchased parts on the basis of Cost-Break-Downs and Benchmark Bottom-Up-Calculations.
- Establish cost transparency, identify cost drivers and build up systematically Cost-Analysis Know-How.
- Identification of cost reduction potentials in the category Iron Casting, Sheet Metals, Machining and Forging parts / groups of parts manufactured in series.
- Analysis of incoming proposals as to support the Category Purchasing in the course of price negotiations.
- Conduct of cost optimization workshops carried out in cooperation with Category Purchasing at the site(s) of suppliers.
- Calculation of should costs of new products component during the development phase.
- Identification and evaluation of cost saving potentials, by means of modifying the products' design, specification or the manufacturing process.
- Identification and evaluation of cost saving potentials related to tools and investments.
- Benchmark calculation of components assemblies.
JOB EXPECTATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Min. 3-5 years experiences gathered in analyzing the costs of IRON CASTING, SHEET METALS, MACHINING AND FORGING components
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of cost calculation methods and tools (e.g. Perfect ProCalc - preferred)
- Detailed knowledge of cost structures
- Business Case Calculation & Understanding
- High-level expertise in the use of MS-Office (Excel and PPT)
- Communication/negotiation skills in English
- Analytical way of thinking
- Experience in cooperating with a multidisciplinary team of experts
- Willingness to travel (20 % of working time on average. Destination: mainly US)
