  • Responsibilities

    Lab Manager in Sargent College's Aphasia Research Laboratory (bu.edu/aphasiaresearch), which focuses on examining stroke recovery and aphasia. Position is responsible for all aspects of lab management including onboarding new lab members and managing current personnel, ensuring IRB and HIPAA compliance, purchasing supplies, coordinating projects both within the lab and with other labs, event coordination, managing data entry systems and paper files, running statistical programs with various data sets and assisting with writing of new grant proposals or publications/conference presentations when applicable.

    Required Skills

    • B.A./B.S., Masters degree preferred, and at least one year of related experience
    • Preferred experience includes experience building or maintaining REDCap projects, statistical programs (i.e., R, SPSS, and/or Statistica), and Excel spreadsheets
    • Knowledge of human subject research requirements (i.e., HIPAA) also preferred
    • Experience with imaging techniques (fMRI, DTI, MEG) a plus
    • Applicant must have knowledge of IRB documentation requirements, experience with large data management , knowledge of statistics, experience with at least one statistical program, and knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
    • Additionally, the applicant must work well with others in the lab, be well organized, detail oriented, and able to self-direct work with some assistance
    • Position is contingent upon availability of external funding
    • Initial appointment term of 1 year; renewable
