    FITNESS SUPERVISOR, MIT'S WANG ALUMNI CENTER, CAMBRIDGE, MA 

    Part-time, 25-29 hours/week, Morning shifts: M-F 5:30am-10:30am

     

    MIT RECREATION, managed by HealthFitness, has a new opportunity for a FITNESS SUPERVISOR to join the team on campus in CAMBRIDGE, MA. In this position, you will open and supervise the facility's exercise floor, interact with members and program participants, and assist in the communication and delivery of health and fitness programs and services, promotions and outreach activities. You will be responsible for providing outstanding service to members and program participants to maximize participation, outcomes, and customer satisfaction. _Additional flexible hours available on-site &  _$500 RETENTION BONUS!

     

    WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

    • Supervise the fitness floor to build member relationships, monitor safety, and enforce all fitness center policies. Use Excel to maintain participant files and class attendance database.
    • Clean and maintain fitness equipment reporting any unsafe conditions or maintenance needs.
    • Provide quality customer service to members and guests via telephone, email and in person.
    • Assist Fitness Management Team with bi-annual staff in-services, facility shut-downs, staff development, and a variety of wellness programs.
    • Work with Assistant Director of Fitness to pursue professional development and areas of growth within the wellness field.
    • Upon certification, act as a group exercise substitute instructor while on shift.
    • Train newly hired fitness desk attendants and follow up on facility cleaning responsibilities for staff.
    • Projects and other duties as assigned by the Associate Director and Fitness Team.

     

    WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

    • High school Diploma or GED.
    • A customer service focus and strong communication skills.
    • An industry recognized Group Exercise certification from ACE, AFAA, ACSM or NETA and experience instructing group exercise classes required within 90 days of hire.
    • CPR/AED/First Aid certification from American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Safety & Health Institute required within 30 days of hire.
    • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including at minimum Word, Excel and Outlook.
    • Ideal candidates will also have 1+ years of fitness center experience and a valid Lifeguard certification.
    • This client site requires full COVID-19 vaccination and Booster as an essential job function.     • Ability to accurately perform basic math computations
    • Ability to enter data into reporting system.
    • Very good at performing accurate checks and maintained accurate records
    • Ability to follow instructions
    • Approachable and team oriented, creating a positive work environmental
    • Combined prior experience in manufacturing, quality control and on the job training.
    • Work is generally performed within a manufacturing environment subjected to temperatures of cold and warm along with wearing the proper PPE, with standard office equipment available along with plant manufacturing environment.
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, bend, walk, use hands or finger, talk, hear, feel objects, tools, or controls; may be required to lift up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities include close vision to a computer screen.
