    POSITION TITLE:         PRODUCT OWNER

    REPORTS TO:             DIRECTOR, PRODUCT GROUP – AIR TREATMENT

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    As a Product Owner, this individual is responsible for executing projects and product releases related to the Air Treatment product vision and roadmap. Collaborating with product management and stakeholders, this position will help identify the needs and the value this product can bring to the customer and the overall Bendix product portfolio. As part of an Agile Workforce Team, this individual will be responsible for clearly articulating these needs and priority to the development team.   This position is expected to represent the customer and business interests through the definition and prioritization of the agile process that provides sequential deliverables to satisfy the larger business features and solutions.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Collaborates with Product Management to provide input to the business vision and roadmap.
    • Champion for the Agile product team(s) by motivating and influencing through strong leadership skills to ensure overall success.
    • Champion for the customer by collaborating with the Agile team to develop user stories that create value for our customers.
    • Owns the delivery of the roadmap, product planning, and requirements for new products and improvements as they relate to Air Treatment.
    • Drives the project management aspect of the product strategy, guiding the development team through the execution of milestones and gates as part of the PDC (Product Development & Commercialization) process.
    • Executes the role of a Product Owner as described in the Scrum Guide.
    • Establishes and maintains business cases for opportunities based on product and customer strategies.
    • Works collaboratively with the Agile team(s) to align with product vision, negotiate commitments and maximize value delivery.
    • Sequences and balances trade-offs among conflicting business priorities.
    • Constantly pursues incremental delivery by looking for ways to meet business goals while learning from development team and end users through frequent, measurable enhancements.
    • Interacts with stakeholders during sprint reviews, or individually, to show the most critical aspects of a solution and negotiate feasible systems solutions
    • Effectively communicates with team members, stakeholders and all levels of management
    • Fosters a strong team interaction that allows people to get information on time by creating an environment where people share ideas and opinions, even when they disagree to ensure optimum solutions, activities.
    • Acts as customer advocate for team questions and seeks out opportunities to connect the team with end users, stakeholders and customers to develop and improve their understanding and empathy of end user needs

    KNOWLEDGE: 

    • Experience negotiating tradeoffs with technical and business resources
    • Solutions-based thinking in problem solving, asking probing questions and looking for underlying issues
    • Experience with the Agile and Lean values/concepts preferred
    • Understanding of major functional and cross-functional business processes and related metrics, as well as project management knowledge to drive cross-functional activities and milestones (Engineering, Operations, Financial, Marketing, and Sales).
    • Capable of barrier breaking and resolution methods given competing priorities outside of the immediate group.
    • Understanding and utilization of business, management and people processes needed for overall success.
    • Demonstrated ability to understand complex ideas and break them down into smaller concepts and deliverables.

    EXPERIENCE:

    • External and internal customer relationship building or training.
    • Experience managing and prioritizing business and customer requirements including but not limited to those necessary to achieve planned internal and external milestones
    • Accomplished at working effectively to tight deadlines regardless of possible setbacks and stress.
    • Agile Scrum development environment experience is a plus
    • Experience in the automotive or transportation industry preferred.

    EDUCATION:

    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or Supply Chain Management

    CSPO or LSPO Certification a plus
