  • Responsibilities

    The Graduate Affairs Academic Advisor will provide academic advising and support for graduate students in the College of Communication (COM), including on academic program policies. Advise students regarding course planning, degree requirements, and completion requirements. Monitor student academic progress and assist students in making appropriate educational choices. Counsel students on academic issues, recommend appropriate interventions for students in academic jeopardy, and triage student situations, including referring students to University resources if needed such as Career Services, Writing Center, Global Programs, Disability Services, etc.

     

    Provide accurate record keeping through the maintenance of student tracking databases, analyze student performance and progress, and provide data for reports as needed.

     

    This role serves as a key contact for the school's international graduate student population. International students account for more than 50% of the graduate student body. The Graduate Student Advisor should understand how international student policies impact COM's international students academic experience and what international students unique needs may be.

     

    There may be occasional evening and weekend hours required.

    Required Skills

    Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred. Three to five years work experience.
