    Position Summary:

    This position is responsible for organizing, prioritizing, evaluating, and communicating the work generated by traditional development processes or by a Scrum team developing solutions for Foundation Drum Brake products for commercial vehicles. Manage projects throughout all stages of the project process, according to the KB/ local guidelines, for medium to larger projects. Could manage multiple larger projects on a local, regional or international level.

     

    Essential Functions:

    Product Owner

    • May lead and support FDB team(s) in an Agile/SCRUM environment
    • Communicate with internal and external customer to define the product vision and scope.
    • Define and maintain a release plan for the product using large scale estimation
    • Provide a refined and prioritized backlog of user stories to the development team
    • Develop business cases to determine project priority
    • Assist with develop and execute technical plans to validate system release and product applications
    • Work with the team to incorporate the appropriate Definition of Done into the user stories facilitating product increments compliant with the Global Change Management, using tools such as Teamcenter PLM.

    Project Management

    • Plans, leads, & executes the full scope of the Foundation Drum Brake Product Roadmap.
    • Works with Product Manager and Finance to develop necessary business cases for all projects under the scope of the role.
    • Ensures new product development projects adhere to all Product Development and Commercialization (PDC) process requirements & KB/Bendix Project Management guidelines.
    • Drive and direct cross-functional teams, coordinate multi-functional activities to meet milestones and deliver projects on plan.
    • Accountable for coordinating globally aligned Foundation Drum Brake strategies & Projects.
    • Accurately tracks and manages project timelines & Budgets using KB/Bendix tools. (Teamcenter, MS Project, etc.)
    • Responsible to ensure that project launches meet cost, quality, and timing commitments.
    • Accountable for resolution of critical issues during the entire life cycle of the projects.
    • Coordinate productivity idea generation activities to ensure future productivity pipeline fill.
    • Establish business cases for new opportunities based on product line and customer strategies
    • Support product life cycle management strategy and implementation.
    • Conduct regular team meetings and necessary alignment/status meetings to support business unit management system.
    • Interface with customers, suppliers and Bendix plants to determine requirements for a successful project implementation.

     

    Knowledge:

     Product Owner

    • Broad automotive and electronic systems knowledge, preferably related to commercial vehicles (trucks).
    • Knowledge of drum brake products including friction materials
    • Ability to translate internal and external customer needs into clearly defined product requirements
    • Knowledge and experience with product development tools such as requirements definition and verification, design failure mode effects analysis (DFMEA), design verification testing (DVP&R), design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA), Functional Safety Concepts, etc..
    • In-depth knowledge of air brake systems is a plus.

    Project Management

    • Advanced understanding of project management techniques and best practices. Considered an expert in this area and able to coach others.
    • Demonstrated knowledge in organizing, managing, and completing projects/product launches to measurable targets.
    • Demonstrated understanding of cross-functional team management to accomplish a common goal.
    • Advanced knowledge and experience of and use of phase gate approach to operations and product development projects.
    • Advanced technical knowledge relative to business and management principles and methodologies.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of product launch and project management tools including Microsoft Project.
    • Capable of barrier breaking and resolution methods given competing priorities outside of the immediate group.
    • Understanding of major functional and cross-functional business processes and related metrics. (Engineering, Operations, Financial, Marketing, and Sales), specifically as they relate to the product commercialization cycle.
    • Advanced understanding and utilization of business, management and people processes needed for overall success.

     

    Experience:

    • 5+ years’ experience in supply chain, engineering, or manufacturing project management, 2-4 years’ managing smaller projects.
    • Experience in an automotive or transportation environment preferred.

    • Understanding of major functional and cross-functional business processes and related metrics (Engineering, Operations, Financial, Purchasing, Marketing, and Sales).
    • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word etc).
    • Advanced ability to budget and to consider different budget strategies when making decisions on the Project Management team.
    • Large project cross functional time, task, and resource management.
    • Advanced interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and manage conflicts across the organization, along with networking in an effective way.
    • Advanced experience in presentation skills including preparation or presentation and the use of different presentation media and techniques.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills; capable of formal and informal discussions at all levels of the business; has professional presence.

    • Strong ability to think and act in a structured way.

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology required; Master’s degree in related profession preferred.
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.
    • Greenbelt certification preferred.

     

    Travel:

    • Up to 25% required (test track, suppliers, customer locations, etc.)
