POSITION SUMMARY:
This position’s primary role is to lead a team of engineers responsible for the creation of manufacturing assembly line engineering strategies and standards to produce commercial vehicle components. Use the latest manufacturing techniques to build operational excellence into future assembly lines balancing manual and automation operations to achieve world class quality, safety and throughput goals. Support those strategies through new product launches as the program execution teams design and deploy equipment into the manufacturing facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lead a team to develop Strategies and Standards to support the Manufacturing Engineering enterprise including: Assembly Line Strategies, Material Flow & Logistics, Man-Machine Timing Templates and Standards, Project & Program Business Processes, Manufacturability Maintenance Requirements & Guidelines
- Develop detailed ME strategies and templates for common product lines incorporating “Best of” practices including: line and station layouts / build sequences / operations / cycle times / Plan for Every Part – container and presentation of parts to line.
- Help define all operations and maintenance standardized work and instruction set’s for assembly lines
- Responsible to ensure designs meet safety and ergonomic standards.
- Accountable for the flow down of product safety related requirements, CCs and SCs to the PFMEA for new lines.
- Works with other Business Units to satisfy advanced mfg engineering services needed to achieve goals and objectives including leading the (WPO) Workplace Organization and (EEM) Early Equipment Management world class pillars and activities for central ME
- Support Sr Staff in conducting plant specific SLP events.
- Work with product leadership to ensure Manufacturability Requirements are understood and met through the product development cycle.
- Support the AME Program Managers as they execute new program and project launches ensuring all lessons learned are captured and driven back into the standards and business processes.
- Work with KB managers across the globe to ensure best practices and harmonization of strategies.
- Work will involve managing day to day activities of a team of engineers, including setting objectives, managing results, and evaluating/coaching individual performance.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Fixturing and tooling design knowledge
- Advanced knowledge of assembly & manufacturing processes.
- Quality analysis tools
- Knowledge of SCRUM and Agile techniques a plus
- Computer/CAD Systems Familiarity (Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Simulation Software)
EXPERIENCE:
- 15 years related experience
- Prior Supervisory experience required
- Experience working in a Matrix organization
- Demonstrated applications of plant floor and product design improvements for manufacturing
- Demonstrated ability to manage teams of people/projects and assignments with highest level of autonomy and accountability for results
- Multiple different ME assignments with successful individual achievements or strong team-based achievements
- Experience working with skilled trades or maintenance organizations
- Global Exposure working with others from other regions to complete projects
- Cross-Functional assignment in other Industrial roles
- Direct Plant experience is a plus
SKILLS:
- Advanced program management skills

- Demonstrated experience with CMMS systems
- SAP PM Module experience (highly desirable)
- Reliability Excellence experience (highly desirable)
- Excellent level of analytical ability, communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues.
- Demonstrated ability to manage teams of people/projects and assignments with highest level of autonomy and accountability for results
- Demonstrates initiative by reaching beyond work assigned to improve output and/or help others
- Proven ability in project management skills and ability to teach others
- Proven desire and ability to manage/coach performance of direct reports
- Advanced and proven Industrial Engineering skills preferably in an Automotive or Aerospace setting
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in a related engineering discipline plus 10-15 years related experience
- Six Sigma Black and/or Lean Expert preferred
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Willing to travel up to 30% of the time
- Willing & able to travel in and out of Mexico and Europe.
