    As one of the nation’s top schools of social work, Boston University School of Social Work (BUSSW) is dedicated to the pursuit of inclusive excellence in education, research, and evidence-based practice to advance social, racial, gender, and economic justice and solve the most pressing societal problems of the 21st century. We invite applications for the position of half-time salaried lecturer. In this 12-month, position the half-time lecturer will teach 12 credits per year. They will advise 6 to 8 in-field students (or its equivalent), as well as read admissions applications for an average time commitment of approximately 100 hours per year. Courses will typically be one or more of the following: required foundation and/or advanced courses in racial justice and clinical practice. Lecturers generally teach across SSW’s platforms, including the Charles River Campus Program, the Off-Campus Program, and the Online Program. In the Online Program, the HT Lecturer may serve as course instructor (2 or 3 credits per course) and/or facilitator (1.5 credits per section). The number of courses and/or sections is typically arranged before July 1 for the following academic year.

     

    Requirements:

     

    • Must hold an MSW degree and LICSW
    • A minimum of 5+ years of experience as a SW practitioner
    • Evidence of excellent teaching and training skills appropriate to the MSW curriculum and relevant professional expertise and achievement in equity, inclusion, and justice focused activities
    • Experience teaching about role of structural inequities such as racism and heteropatriarchy in the entrenchment and perpetuation of trauma and violence.
    • Experience working with ethnically, racially and gender-diverse populations and students is required.
    • Commitment to anti-oppressive teaching methods is desirable.

     

    HT Lecturers do not serve on standing committees or attend faculty meetings. Over-base compensation for additional teaching, advising, or other service duties may be possible and would be arranged individually per the annual contract.
