SPRING 2021 QUALITY ENGINEERING CO-OP
SUMMARY
We are looking for an energetic Operations, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial and Systems Engineering major to join our team as a QUALITY ENGINEERING CO-OP in Elyria, Ohio. This position will work within the Quality department to ensure the quality of our systems, operational efficiency and the satisfaction of our customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a QUALITY ENGINEERING CO-OP, you will be responsible for:
- Participate in the development and implementation of innovative and beneficial programs/projects aimed at improving customer satisfaction, quality systems, and operational efficiency
- Monitoring, analyzing, and reporting of customer and supplier quality metrics
- Participate on product launch teams to complete requirements for quality engineering, including product scorecards, control plans, PFMEA’s, process flows
- Manage assigned customer requirements
- Warranty trend analysis, specific product failure analysis of warranty returns
- Conduct competitive baseline analysis for warranty performance
- Manage the warranty critical failure mode process
- Investigate and contribute to the resolution of customer or supplier issues with potential for travel as required
- Assist with process improvement projects, including use of six sigma tools, lean, and project management skills as required
- Contribute and participate in ISO9000/IATF16949 compliance and auditing
- Complete Gage R&R and Capabilities studies using statistical tools as required
- Develop Quality corrective actions as assigned
- Support supplier improvement projects, including VDA audits and supplier evaluations
- Liaison work with Plant Quality, Supplier Quality, Operations personnel, Engineering and other functional disciplines
REQUIREMENTS
- Currently attending an accredited college or university
- 3.0 Cumulative GPA or higher
- Major in Operations, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial and Systems Engineering
- Ability to work full-time 40 hours per week during the work term
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite – Word, Excel, Access/Query
- Resourceful – not intimidated by large assignments
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, ream-focused environment
- Enthusiastic work approach
- Self- motivation and the ability to learn new assignments quickly
- Knowledge of statistical tools preferred
