    Membership & Engagement Manager - Bethel, AK

    Customer-focused leadership role in community wellness!

    The YK Fitness Center in Bethel, Alaska , managed by HealthFitness, has a great opportunity for a Membership & Engagement Manager to engage, retain and grow membership, foster participation in fitness and wellness events and activities, and empower and motivate both our community and staff. In this customer facing management role, you will assist in leading all membership operations including marketing and reporting and provide excellent customer service. You'll oversee a team of 15-20 direct reports. Flexible, part-time or full-time schedule which will include some evening and weekend hours to be accessible to members during times when they are most likely to engage with the fitness center.

    What You’ll Be Doing:

    • Membership management including membership development, processing accounts, and reporting, facility marketing, and program management focused on member engagement and community activities.
    • Operations staff management including scheduling, supervision and backup coverage.
    • Development and implementation of strategic marketing campaigns that include social media.
    • Other duties as needed/assigned.

    Bethel, AK is a community of roughly 6,500 people, located at the mouth of the Kuskokwim River, 40 miles inland from the Bering Sea and 400 air miles West of Anchorage. First established by Yup'ik Eskimos, Bethel is now the largest community in Western Alaska and the 9th largest in the State of Alaska. Bethel functions as the transportation and service hub for the 56 villages that make up the Yukon Kuskokwim Delta Region (YKDelta). The YK Fitness Center is the only public recreational facility in Bethel and is an essential part of the health, safety and wellbeing of the Bethel community.

    What we’re looking for:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Accounting or a related field OR Associate's degree in related field plus at least 3 years of experience.
    • 1+ years of management experience working in membership services, direct customer service or related field ideally in a recreational setting.
    • 1+ years of experience developing and implementing activities and events directed towards community engagement, member recruitment and retention.
    • Excellent verbal and written skills with high quality customer service skills.
    • Strong computer literacy, and comfort using a variety of software including Microsoft Office.
    • Ability to supervise, train and positively lead a diverse staff.
    • Safe Serve or Alaska Food Workers Certification required within 30 days of hire.
    • Adult CPR/AED and First Aid certifications from American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Safety & Health Institute required within 60 days of hire.
