    GENERAL SUMMARY:

    Responsible for all aspects of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering. Tasks will include design and development of new manufacturing processes, equipment and systems as well as improvement of existing processes, equipment and systems. This position will also provide technical leadership for manufacturing and assembly processes utilizing Lean Manufacturing Methodologies. Responsibilities will include Value Streaming, Standardized Work, Cellular Manufacturing, Line Balancing, process documentation, plant layout, and workspace design, equipment specification and development and project management. Responsible for maintaining and managing the Capital Budget. This position requires a high degree of technical capability as well as the ability to manage, cooperate and communicate effectively with others.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Champions Manufacturing Engineering/Industrial Engineering ownership and accountability for all manufacturing processes. Leads creation and implementation of new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
    2. Ensures Environmental, Health and Safety compliance during design and/or making significant changes to equipment, facility, methods and/or processes.
    3. Promotes and directs Manufacturing Engineering efforts to reduce costs of all Manufacturing and Assembly operations.   Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving plant operations.
    4. Assures engineering staff provide on-floor technical oversight required to ensure that processes deliver quality product, meeting customer requirements.
    5. Holds engineering staff accountable to assure that proper procedures, training, tooling and equipment are provided to assure safe, error free execution of processes.
    6. Manages the Capital budget, capital accounts, forecasting payments and maintaining history file.
    7. Establishes a culture of aggressive Manufacturing Engineering involvement in product design/development cycles. Work with program teams and technical staff to assure that Operational Excellence and Mistake Proofing tools are in new proposals and existing product structures.
    8. Responsible for maintaining and approving all tooling and fixturing, company-wide.
    9. Performs administrative functions required in the management of technical staff, including but not limited to: Development and implementation of training plans for technical staff, conducting weekly staff meetings and monthly safety meetings; planning and management of manpower plans operating budgets; participation in Safety reviews, schedule reviews, program reviews, and customer meetings.
    10. Perform other duties as may assigned

     

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED:

    1. Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or an appropriate Major required.
    2. Seven to ten years of progressively complex Engineering and/or Manufacturing operations assignments with Management/Supervisory experience.
    3. Demonstrated understanding of various continuous improvement methods such as Lean, TQM and/or Six Sigma.
    4. Demonstrated understanding of Capital justification procedures. Experience with Project Management and leading project teams.
    5. Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
