    POSITION SUMMARY:

     

    Performs professional manufacturing engineering assignments, usually supporting product manufacturing. Applies standard engineering techniques, analysis, procedures, and criteria in specific situations. Produces and correlates data. Recognizes discrepancies in results. Investigates problems, identifies optimal solutions, and makes selections of engineering alternatives.

     

    Position normally reports to an Engineering Manager, but will also work in team environments, taking technical direction from engineers or other plant team leadership. Duties are performed with limited supervision.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Controls and tester specialist for organization.
    • Support the development of PC-based and PLC-based control systems.
    • Manage test stand development and function for new equipment and for existing equipment upgrades.
    • Convert engineering test specifications to plant floor manufacturing test requirements.
    • Support plant operations by selecting and installing safety control devices.
    • Liaison between IT department and plant manufacturing engineers.
    • Review and approval of ladder logic and other controls programs.
    • Manage controls equipment vendors from concept through installation in plant; including RFQ, equipment design reviews, run-offs, and start of production (SOP).
    • Maintain knowledge base of existing controls technology and investigate new software and hardware developments as they become available.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Experience with PLC-based and PC-based control systems. This includes HMI, testing equipment, bar coding, electronic torque controls, etc.

    • Experience with Data acquisition systems.

    • Working knowledge of machine automation and assembly systems integration.

    • Knowledge of automotive quality systems, including in-process and final test techniques for assembly processes.

    • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.

    • Understanding of the Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) process.

    • Experience developing pneumatic test systems.

    • Experience with database development, and the management of data stored.

    • Technical Skills - Strong manufacturing engineering background, with an understanding of process control systems (Allen Bradley required, Siemens preferred).

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    • Teamwork - Able to work in a diverse work group and in diverse work cultures.

    • Leadership - Able to lead others by earning their respect.

    • Able to set priorities, identify risks and opportunities.

    • Proficient in Microsoft office products.

    • Must act with sense of urgency and be able to energize others to work to achieve organizational goals/objectives.

    • Able to travel throughout North America and Europe, depending on project needs.

     

    EDUCATION:

    • Bachelor of Science degree minimum, in a related discipline.
    • Minimum 3 years related experience.
    • Proficient in English.

     

     

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    This position is based in Acuna, Mexico, and most of the work will be supporting projects at the Bendix facilities located in Acuna. The candidate must have a valid passport and be able to travel regularly in and out of the United States. Expected travel will be about 30 %.
