  • Responsibilities

    This position’s primary role is to drive equipment reliability and maintenance activities throughout the manufacturing enterprise. This role is responsible to establish best practice maintenance standards and systems across all the plants, to develop baseline reliability standards with measurable KPI’s and audit new manufacturing equipment for compliance. Work with the plants to assess current and future needs then develop and implement technical training for the plants as required. This role will lead the Cross-Plant Autonomous and Professional Maintenance Teams and drive the implementation of world class manufacturing tools through the integration of Knorr-Bremse Production methodologies.

     

    In this role, the individual has the following responsibilities within the business.

     

    • Responsible to define reliability and maintenance standards and ensure execution of them as new equipment is designed and built.
    • Lead the effort to develop and integrate maintenance best practices across the Acuña campus.
    • Develop and maintain a spare parts strategy and corresponding business processes for new and existing equipment.
    • Develop a “share the spare” strategy across the plants where possible to help drive cost savings / cash flow improvement.
    • Define systems utilization and structure for assets in the SAP/PM system and work with the plants to drive continuous improvement of the maintenance work order system.
    • Develop and maintain an equipment health assessment matrix of all current assets and a refurbishment strategy process.
    • Define and maintain the criteria for equipment classification.
    • Coordinate yearly refurbishment project prioritization, budget appropriation and management of project funds in coordination with the plants.
    • Develop required technical training strategies and implementation plans in coordination with the plants and business units.
    • Coach and guide Manufacturing Leaders on the proper method and use of tools to eliminate losses and waste.
    • This role will focus on Prioritized Maintenance losses within manufacturing to improve throughput/lead time.
    • This role will create Autonomous and Professional Maintenance standard documents, processes and implementation of best practices across all plants.
    • This role will coach, guide and direct Plant Autonomous and Professional Maintenance Leaders for plant reviews, audit preparation and kaizen reporting activities; provide direction to Plant Leadership for strategic and horizontal expansion, auditing and succession development.
    • The Lead works with global counterparts from each of the regions to establish global pillar standards and expand knowledge.
    • Serve manufacturing locations by helping conduct workshops, benchmarking trips and training.
    • Lead Cross-Plant Autonomous Maintenance and Professional Maintenance Teams to implement world class AM and PM processes, tools and methodologies.
    • Serve as Subject Matter Expert on Central function, Cross-Functional Team designed to create knowledge, leadership and expansion of KPS manufacturing methodology. Position reports to the Central Engineering Manager. The position is based out of Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico. Duties are to be performed with limited supervision.

    Bachelor's degree in a related engineering discipline plus 10 years related experience.   Demonstrated performance as a Manufacturing Engineer.
