Marketing and Communications Intern Job Description Grimm & Grove Communications is a boutique marketing/communications firm based in Philadelphia. Partners Melissa Grimm & Alison Grove pride themselves in taking a personal touch with each client, but we are supported by a team of specialists in media relations, design, writing, marketing, social media, and public relations. Grimm & Grove works with some clients for years and serves as their advisor and executor on MarCom efforts; for other clients we work on a specific project with a beginning and end. G&G does not have an office as our team works from home. The successful candidate will be able to plan to complete tasks on deadline from home, working independently. Occasional face-to-face meetings in Center City and East Falls Philly will be required. Often this person will be working with an account manager that knows the client best and can serve as a sounding board as the work progresses. This position is paid hourly as an independent contractor. We have worked with college interns in the past and they tell us that their G&G work has helped substantiate their skills to find and do a marketing/communications job after graduation. We are currently looking for a marketing/communications intern to help our team with the following types of work: -Creative thinking! On all that we do. -Conducting secondary market research and general research- to help identify dates that might conflict with our client's events, to find competitors and thought-leaders we can learn from, to help develop a market position/plan for our clients, to identify creative marketing ideas/events, etc.  -Writing- good writing skills are required for various uses, such as press releases, client communications, helping write marketing materials and key messages, proposals, reports, and other outreach.  We use creative and copy writers when it makes sense but day-to-day, we do a lot of writing for our clients, to get business, to report on the results of our efforts, etc.  -Public relations- identifying speaking, awards, and media placement opportunities for our clients. Being creative about this. -Pulling editorial calendars from targeted industry and general publications and maintaining updated documents like this for several clients. -Identifying creative ways to tell stories that aren't he usual on behalf of our clients. For instance, we once suggested a real estate client create a local coffee brew, use coffee wraps and 3-D sidewalk chalk drawings to announce their market presence -What are the non-traditional ways to engage our audience and how do we stay abreast of ideas? - Media placement- working with a media relations manager to create angles that tell the story our clients want told, helping identify ways to build key relationships with target reporters, staying abreast of the client spaces where we need to place media to connect the dots to our client, and pitching angles for successful placement. Or understanding where we went wrong when we don't place a story so we can improve our angles and targets.   -Helping write proposals and reports for clients. Being fluent in Powerpoint/Google Slides to help products we work on look better and helping come up with better ideas for the way our G&G comms look. -Helping to strategize and grow G&G's social media. - Helping with administrative tasks as needed. Sometimes it's stuffing bags, other times it's being a greeter at an event. We're small and scrappy and look for someone who considers it a compliment to be scrappy with us. Hourly pay $20-$25/hour pending skills & experience.
