    Job Description

    This opportunity to lead the build-out of our Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment at NCI and NIH, is truly a game-changing opportunity. This position offers you the ability to leverage your current technical skillset and consulting background to work directly with our NCI IT leadership team including our CIO, Federal Cloud Lead, and our Information System Security Officer (ISSO). In addition, since NCI is a multi-cloud environment, there will be ample opportunity to support our cloud team with further development of our existing AWS cloud environment.

    What you need to succeed (Required):

    • 5-years’ experience in system engineering/administration of at least one operating system: Windows, Linux, Unix, Solaris, Ubuntu.

    • 3-years’ experience in designing, installing, configuring, administering, and managing systems on AWS while securing cloud resources for high-availability and production level systems and services.

    • Infrastructure automation experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Terraform and CloudFormation.

    • Proficiency and Proven Hands-on experience AWS Services; EC2, CloudFormation, VPC, ALB, AWS Security, S3, RDS, EBS, ECS.

    • Experience in configuring and managing continuous integration systems (Jenkins, Bamboo, etc.).

    • Experience with troubleshooting in networking and web standards such as DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, HTTP, web security mechanisms, proxies, firewalls & application delivery controllers.

    • Experience migrating systems to hybrid or fully cloud-based solutions.

    • Experience with the AWS well-architected paradigm.

    • Database engineering and design for storage-based and transactional applications.

    What skills will set you apart:

    • Operational experience with Container Based Hosting using Docker, Kubernetes, and/or AWS Container Service

    • Experience developing DevOps solutions from scratch using tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, Packer, AWS Code* and related products.

    • Proven Experience in automation using (Shell, Python, Ansible, Puppet, etc.).

    • Extensive experience with the AWS CLI.

    Work Qualifications:

    • 6 - 10 years of relevant engineering experience

    Work Location:

    • Client Site is located in Rockville, MD

    • This position supports Fully Remote work until the federal client reopens office location.

    Education Requirements:

    • B.S. Computer Science, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience. Certifications: (One or more depending on specific needs).

    1. AWS Certified Solutions Architect/DevOps – Associate or Professional.

    Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a federal Public Trust/Suitability.
