Colby Community College is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as Grounds Supervisor or Grounds Manager to plan, supervise, and maintain Colby Community College's outdoor spaces, ensuring a safe, attractive, and functional environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors, while living in a welcoming community that values agriculture, athletics, and small-town quality of life. The salary range for this position is between $21.50 - $23.10 for Grounds Supervisor and $25.00 - 27.50 per hour for Grounds Manager. The College offers up to $2,000 in relocation expense reimbursement to join our wonderful community.
Note: This is a dual posting, and only one position is available and will be filled based on the selected candidate's qualifications.
The Opportunity
This is a 12-month, full-time, non-faculty position with an anticipated schedule of at least 40 hours per week. Evening, weekend work may be required due to College operations.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the care and maintenance of all campus grounds, including lawns, trees, shrubs, sprinkler system, and flowerbeds.
Manage seasonal responsibilities such as snow removal, leaf collection, and storm cleanup to ensure safe access to campus.
Implement landscaping plans that promote campus aesthetics and environmental sustainability.
Oversee the application of fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides in compliance with environmental and safety standards.
Oversee the use, care, and maintenance of groundskeeping equipment, vehicles, and tools.
Recommend and purchase supplies, equipment, and materials necessary for grounds operations.
Ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment by staff through training and oversight.
Clean, maintain, put down, and remove salt from the College grounds during winter storms.
Qualifications
Applicants with the below qualifications will be considered for the Grounds Supervisor title.
High School Diploma / GED.
At least one year of experience in custodial or maintenance operations is required.
Associate degree or higher is preferred.
Three years of experience in custodial or maintenance operations is preferred.
Applicants with the below qualifications will be considered for the Grounds Manager title.
High School Diploma / GED.
At least two years of experience in custodial or maintenance operations is required.
Candidates must hold an CDL-B.
A CDL-A is preffered, candidates with a CDL-A, may be eligible for an additional $1.00 per hour
More than three years of experience in custodial or maintenance operations is preferred.
Salary and Benefits
Grounds Supervisor - $21.50 - $23.10, based on experience and education.
Grounds Manager - $25.00 - $27.50, based on experience and education.
