Job Summary
The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the overall appearance, cleanliness, and safety of outdoor grounds, landscaped areas, and designated facilities. This role helps ensure the property remains well-kept, functional, and visually appealing for residents, guests, and staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform routine landscaping tasks, including mowing, trimming, edging, weeding, pruning, planting, and mulching.
Maintain and care for lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers, and other vegetation.
Remove litter, debris, and potential hazards from outdoor areas, walkways, and parking lots.
Operate and maintain groundskeeping tools and equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and irrigation systems.
Monitor and maintain irrigation systems, making minor repairs or adjustments as needed.
Assist with seasonal grounds preparation, including snow and ice removal, leaf cleanup, and storm damage repair.
Inspect outdoor facilities and report or address maintenance needs, including issues with benches, fencing, lighting, or signage.
Ensure compliance with company safety policies and all applicable regulations.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or facility maintenance preferred.
Basic knowledge of lawn care, plant care, and grounds maintenance practices.
Ability to operate and perform minor maintenance on groundskeeping equipment.
Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs., standing, bending, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Required Education, Certifications/Licenses, and Related Experience
High school diploma or GED.
One to two years of related experience preferred.
Physical Job Requirements
Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
Ability to climb ladders up to 8 feet, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Approximately 75% or more of time spent outdoors walking assigned properties daily.
Full range of body motion required, including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
