    Groundwork Denver (GWD) is a 501(c)3 non-profit community-based organization that youth and community to build a healthy, equitable, and sustainable environment.     Position Summary:

    Reporting to the Development Director, the Volunteer Coordinator will spearhead GWD’s volunteer program, ensuring all volunteers are matched with the appropriate program based on interest and need. The organization works with hundreds of volunteers per year and expects this position will manage the day-to-day activities of a successful volunteer program which include ongoing relationship-building with individuals and volunteer groups.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    · Recruitment: Recruit interested individuals, corporate, civic, school, and community groups. Includes developing tailored corporate sponsorship packages for larger groups.

    · Manage logistics of all volunteer events, including:

    Scheduling dates, coordinating with partners and staff

    Coordinating food, supplies, and any materials needed for event

    Communicate with volunteers and volunteer groups.

    Coordinating set-up, task assignment and training, clean-up, and post-event follow-up

    Coordinate with other staff as appropriate

    Collect waivers and ensure safety at volunteer events

    Following all COVID safety protocols

    · Professionally represent GWD at volunteer events, which may include public speaking, training volunteers on tasks, thanking sponsors and partners.

    · Track and record all volunteer event data for reporting purposes.

    · Help collect photos and stories to share in marketing/communications.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    · Organized, with strong time-management skills to oversee all aspects of events from start to finish.

    · Strong writing and verbal communication skills.

    · Proactive, positive attitude that inspires others to get involved and connects them with GWD’s mission.

    · Ability to work respectfully and authentically with people of all ages, genders, races, ethnicities, incomes, and education levels, etc.

    · Understanding of racial equity and a commitment to continuous personal learning and growth around issues of race and class equity.

    · Fluency in written and spoken English is required; conversational and written Spanish a plus.

    Other Requirements:

    · Office work environment is an office in the Cole neighborhood of Denver that is ADA compliant with gender-neutral restrooms. During COVID-19 precautions, staff are encouraged to work from home with a GWD-issued computer.

    · Volunteer activities and occasional opportunities to join Groundwork Denver staff in field work may include walking or hiking in natural areas and parks, picking up trash, water sampling in rivers and streams, and other outdoor physical activity on a case-by-case basis.

    · Ability to utilize computer systems, manage phones, and travel to and from events, meetings, and appointments. Mileage and public transportation costs would be reimbursed.

    Compensation:

    This is a part-time, hourly position ranging from $17.50-20.00/hour. Work hours will vary but will range from 10-20 hours/week. Some weekend work may be required.
