    POSITION OVERVIEW 

    Location: Denver, CO 

    Reports to: Sheridan Inspire Director  

    Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 40 hours/week with varying hours, including some evenings and weekends

    Compensation: $47,000-$54,080 per year, depending on experience

    Status: Full-time, exempt

    Work Model: Hybrid

    POSITION SUMMARY 

    Reporting to the Sheridan Inspire Director, the Community Connector plays a critical role in the success of the Sheridan Inspire Initiative. This position supports the Program Director in implementing inclusive, community-driven strategies and serves as a connector between residents, partners, and coalition members. The Community Connector builds and maintains strong relationships in the community, participates in programming and events, and ensures that Sheridan residents are informed, involved, and represented throughout the initiative’s work.

    PRIMARY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Responsibilities in Community Engagement and Outreach:

    Conduct regular outreach to inform youth and families about Sheridan Inspire programs, events, and job opportunities

    Serve as a welcoming, familiar presence at family activities, programs, and community events

    Participate in outdoor activities and help families feel confident and included in nature-based programming

    Gather ongoing community feedback through informal conversations and structured surveys

    Represent the community voice at Sheridan Inspire Coalition meetings, sharing input and ideas

    Responsibilities in Communications and Visibility:

    Help design and distribute bilingual flyers, newsletters, and other promotional materials

    Create and manage social media content (Facebook, Instagram) that reflects community stories and updates

    Maintain the Sheridan Inspire website, ensuring program information is current and accessible

    Support branding consistency and community engagement across all communication platforms

    Responsibilities in Program Support and Coordination:

    Help maintain a shared calendar of events, activities, and coalition meetings

    Assist in planning and coordinating community events in collaboration with partner organizations

    Create and manage Google Forms for registrations, surveys, and community input

    Support data collection and documentation of program impact

    Help manage the Sheridan Inspire phone line and respond to inquiries with warmth and accuracy

    Administrative Responsibilities:

    Track work hours, outreach activities, and engagement contacts

    Take notes during Monthly coalition meetings and other meetings with stakeholders

    Ensure accurate and timely reporting of program participation and community feedback

    Responsibilities as a member of the Groundwork Denver team:

    Actively participate in Groundwork Denver’s journey towards Health and Belonging including discussions, readings, strategic planning, self-reflection, action and more

    Participate in fundraising events and appeals as requested

    Participate in volunteer days when needed

    Participate in shared office responsibilities like cleaning, organizing, and risk management

    Collaborate respectfully and productively with co-workers to achieve Groundwork Denver’s overall mission

    Contribute to a positive office culture

    Attend all staff meetings, meetings for one ongoing staff committee, and other meetings as discussed with the Executive Director

    QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, & EXPERIENCE

    Passion for Groundwork Denver’s mission and alignment to our values and goals.

    Passion for connecting youth and families with the outdoors and improving community access to nature

    Strong interpersonal skills and a relationship-driven mindset

    Bilingual in Spanish and English (required)

    Familiarity with Sheridan or Southwest Denver communities (preferred)

    Basic skills in graphic design (e.g., Canva), social media, and Google Suite

    Comfortable attending outdoor events and being physically active

    Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing needs

    Understanding of racial and class equity and a commitment to continuous personal learning and growth around issues of race and class equity.

    Those with experience working with populations that Groundwork Denver serves, or who have similar life experiences or backgrounds, will be prioritized. Individuals from communities that have been historically marginalized or under-represented in the environmental field are strongly encouraged to apply.

    Ability and willingness to drive Groundwork Denver’s 15-passenger van is [REQUIRED].

    Per Groundwork Denver’s insurance policy, vehicle(s) may only be operated by GWD authorized drivers who are at least 21 years old, possess a valid Colorado driver’s license, and have at least two years of driving experience. 

    CANDIDATE PROFILE 

    The job requires both office and field work in Sheridan and Metro Denver. Office work includes utilizing computer systems, managing phones, and sitting in meetings. Groundwork Denver’s main office is on the ground floor with no steps inside or outside of the building. The front door is wide enough for wheelchairs and other mobility supports, but does not have an automatic door opener

    Field work includes walking and biking in natural areas and parks; walking and biking in urban neighborhoods; field labor including bending, stooping, shoveling, weeding, cutting trees and plants; carrying heavy equipment; camping; and other physically challenging tasks

    Ability to travel to and from meetings, appointments, programs and events.

    Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 

    Our main office is located in the Cole neighborhood of Denver, accessible by public transportation and is ADA compliant.
