    WORK SCHEDULE: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM

    HOURLY RATE: $25.20

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Group Facilitator is responsible for designing and leading group-based support services and family engagement activities to promote healing, resilience, and connection. This role includes facilitating a weekly trauma-informed support group and parenting classes for women, providing individualized case management, and organizing inclusive events that strengthen family bonds. All programming aligns with the mission of the Family Advocacy Center and the requirements of the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Group Facilitation & Case Management

    Facilitate a weekly support group for women using structured, trauma-informed curricula covering topics such as emotional regulation, healthy relationships, parenting, and self-care

    Maintain confidentiality while fostering a safe and culturally responsive group environment

    Implement strengths-based and restorative practices that promote resilience and positive communication

    Refer group participants to appropriate internal and external resources and provide case management as needed

    Conduct home visits, accompany clients to appointments, and complete necessary court documentation as required

    Collect participant feedback and evaluate group effectiveness using surveys and engagement tools

    Coordinate guest speakers and collaborate with internal staff and external providers

    Family Engagement

    Plan and lead a calendar of rotating, interactive family engagement events (e.g., art workshops, wellness sessions, cultural celebrations, STEM nights)

    Ensure all programming is inclusive, developmentally appropriate, and culturally relevant to the families served

    Align all events with the goals of the Family Advocacy Center, including child abuse prevention, family strengthening, and community connection

    Build partnerships with local organizations, guest facilitators, and community talent to enrich event offerings

    Coordinate event logistics, including setup, registration, materials, and promotion

    Monitor participation and collect qualitative and quantitative data to support evaluation and continuous improvement

    MINIMIUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, human services, applied behavioral science, or related field preferred

    Fluent in reading, writing and speaking in Spanish and English

    Minimum of 2 years of experience in a social services or related agency

    Must be able to pass a criminal background check

    Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    Experience working with individuals and families in crisis or sensitive situations, with an understanding of trauma-informed, client-centered, and strength-based practices

    Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and compassionately across diverse audiences

    Professionalism in managing competing priorities and maintaining composure during high-pressure or fast-paced situations

    High degree of cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively with families from diverse racial, socio-economic, ethnic, faith and educational backgrounds

    Skilled in conducting assessments and providing strengths-based, non-judgmental support through advocacy and coaching approaches that empower participants

    Proficient in Microsoft Office and client databases

    PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

    Regular travel to client homes, partner agencies, and a second site in Kankakee

    Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods

    May involve occasional evening or weekend work depending on client needs and events
