    Metrum Research Group is looking for a Group Leader to join the Quantitative Systems Pharmacology team. Join a diverse, multi-disciplinary group of scientists to push the envelope of systems modeling and solve pressing challenges in drug development and biomedical decision making.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide scientific and professional development guidance to PhD-level scientists
    • Oversee scientific execution of projects: from data analyses to modelling workflows to presentations and reporting of results, as the primary interface with clients
    • Help define the strategic direction of the group; methodology development, applications, focus areas, publication plans, and training.
    • Oversee, review, and prepare scientific reports and presentations
    • Participate in business development calls, proposal scoping, and resourcing
    • Envision, support, and lead internal research projects pushing the boundaries of knowledge in the QSP-space

    Requirements, Skills:

    • Deeply inquisitive and passionate about mathematical problem solving in biomedicine
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated through a track record of scientific publications, presentations, and/or regulatory filings.
    • Proven ability to lead multi-functional teams in fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders
    • Track record of mentoring early career scientists
    • Experience developing mathematical models of biological systems from scratch; read and interpret scientific literature, represent the biology via math, parameterize models, execute simulations and communicate results to diverse stakeholders
    • Expertise in at least one domain-specific modelling language (Julia, R, Matlab, or Python) with working knowledge of more
    • Expertise in dynamical systems modelling and QSP methodologies; e.g. parameter estimation, virtual population generation, and sensitivity analyses.
    • Proficiency in statistics and machine learning methods
    • Experience using modeling notebooks (e.g. Markdown, Jupyter) LaTeX, subversion and github
    • Working knowledge of pharmacology fundamentals, population pharmacokinetics, and exposure-response analyses. i.e. ability to converse with pharmacometricians
    • Working knowledge of cell biology, immuno-oncology, drug development, and biopharma industry. i.e. ability to converse with biologists and clinicians

    Education and experience:

    • PhD in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Systems Biology, or equivalent quantitative discipline
    • ** 10+ years post-graduate experience** , preferably in biotech, pharma, or biopharma consulting

    Physical Demands:

    The job frequently requires working at a computer terminal, standing or sitting, and the ability to operate a computer with proficiency.

    Work Environment:

    The work environment is quiet with no adverse conditions.
