Nittany Valley Sports Centre Overview

Position Overview
The Group Sales Manager is responsible for driving group business across Nittany Valley Sports Centre through proactive sales efforts, relationship-building, and exceptional service delivery. This role focuses on selling group experiences including field and court rentals, birthday parties, team-building events, corporate outings, school and youth organization events, camps, and the new Family Entertainment Center (FEC).
Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Sales, the Group Sales Manager is accountable for prospecting new business, closing deals, managing repeat accounts, and ensuring a seamless transition from sale to execution. This position plays a key role in achieving revenue goals while supporting long-term, value-based customer relationships.
This position does require face-to-face engagement with our local community and, thus, requires someone living in the area.
Key Responsibilities
Proactive solicitation and management of group sales opportunities across all areas of The Centre
Prospect new business, close deals, and manage existing accounts to drive repeat bookings
Achieve sales goals through strategic outreach and follow-up
Serve as the primary point of contact for group clients from initial inquiry through event execution
Ensure all booked business is properly, and in a timely manner, turned over to operations and event staff for service delivery
Develop customized proposals, contracts, and group packages aligned with customer needs and Centre offerings
Collaborate closely with internal teams including marketing, sports programming, café, Family Entertainment Center, and operations
Build and strengthen relationships with schools, businesses, nonprofits, youth organizations, corporate groups, faith-based organizations, and community groups
Represent The Centre at networking events, community functions, and other outreach opportunities
Maintain an organized sales pipeline and accurately track leads, bookings, and customer interactions
Support the launch, promotion, and ongoing sales of new offerings, including the Family Entertainment Center
Customer Experience & Relationship Management
Deliver consistent, high-quality service throughout each customer experience
Gain a strong understanding of each client’s business, goals, and expectations to offer thoughtful solutions
Drive customer loyalty by supporting The Centre’s service and relationship strategy
Set a positive example for guest relations and customer service standards
Interact with guests to gather feedback on service quality and overall experience
Service existing accounts to grow share of business and encourage repeat bookings
Sales Strategy & Market Awareness
Identify new business opportunities to meet revenue and growth objectives
Understand market conditions, customer demand, and competitor strengths and weaknesses
Effectively position The Centre’s offerings based on location needs and market dynamics
Close the most strategic opportunities to support overall facility goals

Key Traits
A minimum of three years of experience in sales, group sales, or event sales in hospitality or sports facilities, or in a related field
Strong leadership, negotiation, communication (written and verbal), and customer service skills
Highly organized with the ability to multitask and manage multiple bookings and timelines
Comfortable working independently while exercising sound judgment and discretion
Ability to prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Strong business acumen, work ethic, and passion for service
Familiarity with CRM systems or sales tracking tools is a plus
Evening and weekend availability may be required based on event schedules
