    Legal Analyst Opportunity – Job Duties

    Under general direction from Attorneys, you will:

    • Work alongside the Assistant Chief Counsel, representing CalRecycle in litigation brought on behalf of or against the department
    • Represent CalRecycle in both formal and informal administrative hearings concerning the Beverage Container Recycling and Litter Reduction Act
    • Prepare confidential correspondence, pleadings and documentation in administrative enforcement actions
    • Review contracts entered into the State agency system and advise staff regarding contract requirements and procedures
    • Investigate and analyze facts and documents in connection with civil litigation
    • Compile discovery and conduct legal research for cases, summarizing deposition transcripts
    • Respond to legal inquiries, other State control agencies, and affected parties regarding responsibilities and authority of the agency, as well as Beverage Container Recycling Act and regulations

    Legal Analyst Opportunity - Required Prior Experience and Minimum Qualifications (MUST haves):

    • A least 2 years experience as a Legal Assistant, Legal Analyst, or Paralegal
    • 6 semester units of paralegal or undergraduate legal courses, with at least 3 units in legal research if currently employed with the State of California
      • OR 12 semester units of legal curriculum if experience is outside of the State of California
    • Prior experience in legal research
