About Bach to Rock Herndon
Bach to Rock (“B2R”) is a modern music school where students of all ages learn to play the songs they love, perform in bands, and build confidence on stage. Our curriculum combines structured music education with real-world performance opportunities, so students are not just taking lessons—they're joining a musical community.
At Bach to Rock Herndon, we offer private lessons, group classes, bands and ensembles, and events. We work with beginners through advanced players, kids through adults, across a wide range of instruments and styles. Our team of instructors and staff is committed to providing a professional, supportive, and fun environment where students can progress, perform, and stay inspired long term.
About the Guitar Teacher Role As a Guitar Teacher at Bach to Rock Herndon, you'll teach private lessons and small groups on acoustic and/or electric guitar (and optionally bass). You'll work with students of different ages and levels—from first-time players to more advanced musicians—helping them build solid technique, musical understanding, and performance confidence.
What You'll Do
Teach 30- and 60-minute private lessons (and occasionally small groups) on guitar (acoustic, electric, and/or bass).
Create lesson plans tailored to each student's age, level, and goals.
Prepare students for recitals, band programs, exams, and performances.
Communicate professionally with parents/guardians and adult students about progress and expectations.
Maintain a consistent teaching schedule and provide reliable, timely communication about any changes.
Collaborate with other instructors and staff on recitals, bands, camps, and events as needed.
What We're Looking For
Strong proficiency on guitar (acoustic and/or electric); bass skills are a plus.
Minimum of one of the following:
Currently enrolled in a music or music-related degree program, OR
2–3+ years consistent experience teaching guitar or leading youth programs, OR
1–2+ years emerging professional performance experience.
Comfort working with children and teens in a lesson setting.
Reliable personal transportation to our school.
Ability to commit to a consistent weekly teaching schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in Music, Music Education, or related field, OR
3–5+ years of private lesson teaching experience, OR
Experience playing in bands/ensembles and preparing students for performances.
Schedule & Pay
Part-time, hourly position based on lesson schedule.
Peak hours are weekday afternoons/evenings and Saturdays.
Pay range: $17–$22 per hour, depending on education, teaching experience, and performance background within our instructor tier structure.
