    OPS CHARTER STAFF ASSISTANT

     

    ** APPLICATION DEADLINE: OPEN UNTIL FILLED**

     

     

    DEPARTMENT: Florida Department of Education/Independent Education and Parental Choice

     

    HIRING SALARY: $11.00 per hour

     

    HOURS: 20 – 25 hours/week, Monday – Friday (Flexible work hours)

                                               

    NOTE:  SOME COLLEGE IS REQUIRED. ATTENDANCE AT WORK IS AN ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION. TEMPORARY POSITION THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30, 2020 WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF BECOMING PERMANENT. 

     

    MAJOR FUNCTION:  Supports the staff in the Charter Grant Program area.

     

    Maintain grant files necessary for compliance with and completion of the grant. Organize paper files and scan documentation for archives. Use Microsoft Excel, Word and other office software to update grant status and expenditure reports. Prepare and submit materials to grant recipients as requested. Provide Charter School Program grant director with technical assistance to prepare and disseminate training (and e-training) to grant recipients.  Update online grant-tracking system as needed. Work with the grant director to coordinate meetings, workshops and conferences calls. Complete and assist with special projects and other duties as assigned. 

     

    Attendance at work following approved schedule is an essential job function.

The employee must interact courteously with others. The employee’s performance and behavior must demonstrate consideration of the workload concerns of others and must not negatively affect productivity and morale of the unit. The employee must be mature, articulate, dependable, and flexible.

     

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from a standard high school or equivalency diploma. Some college is required.  Applicant must have experience working with personal computers, office software, social media and e-mail.

    Required Skills Required Experience

  • Qualifications

    EDUCATION: Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Environmental, Health & Safety or related equivalent 

    EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 7-10 years work experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience; with 5 years or project management experience. 

    OTHER:

    • Certified Safety Professional, also training in Lasers and Radiation Safety, preferred
    • Ability to identify and evaluate occupational exposures to harmful substances and make recommendations for control or elimination of hazards in accordance with OSHA requirements
    • Have demonstrated knowledge of life safety regulations and ability to relate these to all operations
    • Able to possess or obtain all necessary certifications relating to hazardous material handling and DOT operations
    • Conduct audits/reviews/evaluating compliance with environmental programs: air issues, solid waste management (RCRA) and CERCLA and the Clean Water
    • Experience with and preparation of reports
    • Able to organize and coordinate projects and team activities
    • Strong oral and written communication abilities with all levels of management, employees, and customer
    • Perform work without appreciable management direction. Exercise considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment
    • Advanced computer proficiency level using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint)
    • Willing to work in potentially hazardous environments with unpleasant conditions
    • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment but has frequent visits to laboratories and multiple facilities; must provide own motorized transportation to multiple facilities
    • Consistently displays exemplary ethics and business conduct and performs work cognizant of safe work practices
