    SUMMARY: To plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operations of the Housekeeping and Laundry Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards governing the Center and as may be directed by the Administrator to ensure that the center is maintained in a clean, safe, sanitary, and comfortable manner and to ensure that an adequate supply of laundry and linens are on hand at all times to meet the needs of the residents. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Work with the Administrator, consultants, and center staff in planning all aspects of the housekeeping and laundry departments. Monitor department activities, communicate policies, evaluate performance, provide feedback, and assist as needed.
    • Conduct regular rounds to monitor the delivery of housekeeping and laundry services; effective coordination with other services; cleanliness and appearance of the common areas, hallways, and residents'' rooms; and morale of staff and to ensure resident needs are being addressed in a proactive manner.
    • Coordinates housekeeping and laundry services with all other services to assure smooth integration of Gulf Coast Health Care''s interdisciplinary approach to quality.
    • Maintain a working knowledge and ensure compliance with all applicable governmental regulations.
    • Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies. Ensure management practices that maintain high morale and staff retention to include effective communication, prompt problem resolution, positive supervisory practices, and maintaining a positive work environment. Manage turnover and ensure future staffing through development of recruiting sources and through appropriate selection and orientation. Ensure timely preparation of associate evaluations of personnel of the housekeeping and laundry departments.
    • Manage housekeeping and laundry budgets to include supply and labor costs. Provide Administrator with requested assistance in developing housekeeping and laundry services budget.
    • In centers with 180 beds or less, supervisors may be required to clean the offices, lobby, barber and beauty shop, visitors'' toilets, and physical therapy and private dining rooms.

    • Attend and participate in departmental education and staff meetings.
    • Provide and ensure training and cross training of housekeeping and laundry associates.
    • Has direct responsibility of maintenance department when the Maintenance Director is on vacation or otherwise as assigned.
    • Attend center meetings as assigned.
    • Participate in disaster and fire drills as required.
    • Practice universal precautions at all times.
    • Maintain an orderly, confidential, and safe work environment.
    • Adhere to all Company and departmental policies and procedures.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Experience

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Completion of high school education or otherwise show ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions.
    • Previous experience in a supervisory capacity and/or support supervisor capacity in an institutional housekeeping/laundry position.
    • Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance as required.
    • Must be able to work weekend and overtime as required.
    • Must meet all local health regulations and pass post-employment exam, if required.
