    Rocket Software is looking for a dynamic INFORMATION DEVELOPER III - Technical Writer to join our vibrant, global team of Information Developers. This contributor will bring creativity and enthusiasm for new technologies to our Rocket products. An ideal candidate enjoys the challenge of working closely with team members from many disciplines and continually striving to improve the quality of our product documentation.

     

    • Write, edit, manage, and publish documentation, including user guides, online help, release notes, reference manuals, APIs, and technical notes for Rocket products. 
    • Attend product planning and development meetings.
    • Coordinate with software developers, project managers, quality assurance engineers, and salespeople to create and update product documentation.
    • Participate with the development team in the planning, specification, and testing phases of the product life cycle.
    • Use oXygen XML Editor to author documentation in DITA.
    • Bring fresh, innovative ideas for providing product information to our customers.
    • Participate in task analysis and synthesize complex technical information.

     

    Required Skills

     

     

    • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, Journalism, English, or a technical discipline.
    • 3-5 years of writing technical documentation.
    • Fluent in English (American) with a solid understanding of standard grammar rules.
    • Interest in learning new technologies.
    • Aptitude for reviewing product specs, interviewing subject matter experts, and installing and using software products.
    • Experience delivering content through a variety of methods including onscreen text, context-sensitive help, and technical guides.
    • Self-motivated, detail-oriented and possess excellent time management and organizational skills.
    • Proven ability to meet strict deadlines, prioritize work, and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
    • An understanding of basic technical writing principles including topic-based writing.
    • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

     

    ADDITIONAL/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

     

    • Degree or certificate in Technical Writing;
    • Proficient in a variety of editing tools and source formats;
    • Knowledge of DITA and oXygen XML Editor;
    • Knowledge of HTML and CSS;
    • Knowledge and ability to work within green screen environments;
    • Knowledge of UNIX-based platforms such as AIX and Linux; and/or
